On one hand, Nintendo does need something to cover up the fact that they just patented the concept of summonable familiars in action rpgs
On the other, they really want to push people onto Nintendo Today for data harvesting purposes. They've already used it to announce Splatoon Raiders and the Zelda movie release date, and the fact that the only notable directs this gen have been either single-game extended trailers or paid ad space has me concerned that they're phasing out Directs entirely to increase Nintendo Today onboarding.
