I was in the industry for some time. This is likely to be true but women play a lot of casual games (on phones and Facebook). These studies are made for investors and people who treat video games as nothing but a way to get money.
Sadly they see those numbers and then ask you to cater to women even on console and PC.

im all for it desu, the government wants a gaming industry here but doesn't really know how to get one.
ScreenAustralia is useless and all the tax breaks are for medium to large already established companies.
if you're an indie in Aus you gotta pay the same full business taxes as everyone else despite a 0.005% success rate.
they also want you to pay $1500 to get your game rated or its illegal to sell here as well (this happened to schedule 1)
