Because price tags over $30 or $40 (for an AAA game) are a ripoff. Always were. Just like you have two, identical T-Shirts, one made by some fledgling brand and the other by, say, Adidas. There will be at least a $100 price difference not because of quality (the same materials, made in the same Vietnamese sweatshop), but because of brand name. The massive part of price of items like iPhones is only caused by "brand tax". The more famous a brand is, the higher the price, regardless of actual quality. I have a chink phone, brand TCL, from Hong Kong if I remember correctly and it's fucking better, cheaper and has the same, if not better, specs than Sony Experia in the same specs range. Plus, you can take off the back of the phone yourself (it's not glued in), so if you want to, say, change the battery, you can do it yourself for MUCH, MUCH cheaper. I have a big fucking battery and it holds no problem for almost an entire day. For an example, today, I've used it a lot, different apps and so on, and I'm down from 98% only to 70% after 6 hours (without battery saver use).
And, due to the system being basically minimally modified Android 12, it allows me a huge degree of control through Developer Options, including sideloading apps no problem, or running ReVanced with microG and installing every app I want with modifications such as no ads and playing in the background for YouTube or YT Music.
