I really hate DarkCookie, like all other pornographers, or "nsfw 'artists'" as they call themselves, but what's most egregious is that he makes tens of thousands of dollars (that we know of) from Patreon alone. And all so he could add in some crappy art into his game and call it an "update". And the worse thing about that is that there will always be perverts that will fall for the bait and will shell out, hand over fist, for a game that looks like a teenager made it, and I'm willing to bet that a teenager could do a better job with the art than DarkCookie ever could in his entire existence.

As far as I know, he was a solo developer at the very beginning, because he used the game as an excuse to learn something about programming. This was the phase where he progressed the fastest.
Then he hired a programmer when he saw that the game had money-making potential, but the guy was a fraud and made a mess that no one could deal with, even though it was a Ren'py game with super simple scripts. This was the phase where progress slowed down.
Then he apparently professionalized the project. That's when progress practically stopped. I have the impression that this was intentional, someone within the project team concluded that they would make more money if they stopped progressing because of the way Patreon works, and their business now is to keep receiving donations without necessarily having to deliver anything.

This last part is just my speculation.
