How was this game so popular?
Sure the guns feel good, and zipping around and murdering random goons is fun for a while.
But everyone you meet in the main quest?
Annoying and boring. The main quest itself fell off after Act 1, and constantly dealing with Judy and Panam whining is grating, and the rest of the quests aren't that interesting either. Should have cut 90% of the content, and given us a proper interlude after the prologue instead of being relegated to cutscenes.
Plus it STILL runs like shit.
Anyway, how'd you build your V, /v/?
I got went into Cool and Reflex and when a stealth approach goes south, I pop heads with pistols and light up anyone close with SMG fire. Mid-air Kerenzikov bullshit is cool too.

I skipped every single cutscene or dialog, I dont even know what the story is.
I just larped as BladeRunner for 30 hours until I got bored.

It has a lot of good parts though and the shell of what could be a great game in 2 or 3 sequels time.
Firstly the city aesthetics is top tier.
Level design is god tier, verticallity is amazing.
Traversing the city by foot is amazing but its technically all disjointed hubs and small quest locations you traverse via car, which is where the game drops off.
Build options are great.
The game has a great style overall.

Some of the jarring things with the world though, loads of dead ends and doors you can interact with. Even the apartment blocks are like 2 or 3 floors if that.
In a game like this they really could have took the time and created a truly believable world that was fully open.
I am hoping to see what GTA does in that regard, because although CP2077 has its issues, it did make a great city better than any GTA city has been. Night city feels like a real place in a lot of the places.
I expect GTA to have copied their work a bit and have kind of central hubs full of people,w which we can see from the trailer with people on teh beach.
I also expect a lot of enterable buildings.

I'm getting to that point, but I read I'm also pretty close to the end, so may as well stick it out.

The main story is quite short if you ignore everything else.
Like 15-30 hours or less.
Some of the side missions are good though, but only worth caring about people you like.
Past the act 1 the jhonny silverhand stuff is all that matters story wise desu.

unironically this, the game is poorly written dogshit with every character being an overplayed cliche but zipping nig**rs through walls with a shotgun under the neon lights is badass

same reason Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Skyrim were and are all still incredibly popular. adjacent reasons as for why Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and Baldur's Gate 3 are or were all incredibly popular.

Story and world building coupled with how fun cyberware and the guns are is what makes Cyberpunk for me. It also looks really good and night city just feels so immersive.

I bought this game in December 2020 completely oblivious to all the hype and liked it. Not sure why some people seethe so much over it. It's really the only recent AAA game I liked. I played on PC which I assume was less shit than the console verisons at the time.

Takemura
Corpo V
Johnny with high relationship
Dex despite how little screen time you get
The Parelez couple
Rouge (RIP Gilf)
Phantom Liberty's entire cast. Even the homeless dude selling trash on the side of the road.
Hell, there's several I'm forgetting that only show up in one quest but had interesting stories in their own right.
Panam and Judy are annoying though. Especially Bipolar panam getting pissy at a complete stranger because I won't instantly do everything she wants.

a US city with no parking lots
consider my disbelief unsuspended
Anonymous No.720289746 [Report]
The city felt lifeless to me. Looks good, but just feels hollow.
I think part of it are the soulless NPCs that just mindlessly walk in circles. They don't have a 'life cycle' as they claimed.
Anonymous No.720289814 [Report]
The enemy AI kinda brings it down
I do like hacking and how I can use it mid combat
Should've made the game third person over the shoulder instead of first person
voice actress was annoying
is there anyway to not have a toggle ADS?
they should add crouch running
shooting feels ok, not too sure why it doesn't do much dmg but yeah.
i found the upgrading system to be rather acceptable. stat point + skill points is nice. i like the augmentation system.
worth getting phantom liberyty?

It is a fictional city, set in the future in a cyberpunk setting where cars fly.
You dont expect it to be a 1:1 of IRL cyberpunk hellhole that is the ole U S of A

I have clocked around 2k hours of playtime in cyberpunk 2077 since release. It's not an amazing game in the slightest, but I like more than most cyberpunk games, namely Deus Ex and EYE Divine Cybermancy.
