What MAJOR failure? Nintendo wanted to make a CD addon and partnered with Sony, the project fell through because the contract terms were unfavorable for Nintendo. Nothing got released, nothing flopped, Sony continued work on the prototype as a side project which morphed into the Playstation. It immediately did well because Sega shat the bed and Sony's resources and marketing budget was orders of magnitude larger than Sega's. Why are game journalists so incompetent?
