I really hated the first Apollo Justice game compared to the og trilogy

Are the other two in the trilogy worth playing?

Not as good as the OG trilogy but still decent. I quite like 6 but I think I'm on the minority. 5 is OK but they played it really safe after the Apollo backlash.

they aren't awful and maybe you'll like them, but there's no way i'd consider them must plays as a collective trilogy.
as stand alone games I'd consider 4 and 5 to be not great, but 6 to be worth while, but i'd still consider it the weakest collection in the series as a whole because they aren't very connected to each other too well, but that might be the motivation you need to try them out?
I keep throwing a comparison between the apollo trilogy and the Disney star wars trilogy and it's not 100% percent accurate, but there is some noticeable overlap.

I'm playing Layton vs AA right now. Never played it before as I was saving it in case we went another 5 years without a game like between SoJ and GAA Chronicles' translation.
I've never looked twice at any girl in Layton's games, but damn, these mob-faced hotties really get me going. Kira, Lettie and Patty are too cute.
The puzzles are way easier than in Layton games while the trials are far easier than in AA though, which makes sense. I'm also bracing myself for Layton's trademark verbal diarrhea at the end where he explains the really retarded plot twist and solve all 10 mysteries at the same time.

I like 5 and 6 but the constant fucking Apollo wank really drags them down. Especially 5 with the stupid edgelord shit like him wearing his dead best friend's (that we've never seen before prior to the case where he's found dead) jacket as a cape but it doesn't actually affect his personality or anything ever and Phoenix basically just ends up bitch slapping him and telling him to stop acting like a retard.
Athena is cute and a fun new addition and unlike Apollo, her arc is resolved in the very same game she's introduced in. Her lawyer power is also a little bit less retarded than Apollo's. It's a shame they didn't know what else to do with her after 5.
6 has THE WORST PROSECUTOR but otherwise good.

Also I think 4 is overhated. It's the weakest of the franchise, but Ace Attorney are really good games.

This series fell from grace really hard after the Edgeworth games, they clearly didn't know what to do with the cast at that point. Apollo Justice at first had the right idea of leaving Phoenix behind in favor for a different people and atmosphere, but they just couldn't do it. Dual Destinies feels like Capcom doing damage control, and they just jumped the shark with the sixth one. Still, the TGAA was a great idea, and it would be better to take it from there and leave Phoenix behind for good.

On a side note, i think this is the problem with Capcom games nowadays, they just can't let go of things, like Resident Evil having the same people and settings for over decades, but in this case, the industry it's terribly bankrupt that their reeplacements aren't a good idea either. In Ace Attorney they really could have pulled it off, but they just didn't want to, it sucks.

DD is also shit if you hate apollo, story has him getting bombed and becoming punished apollo taking the antagonist role for a while. The game has the worst animation in the series, they dumbed down the investigation and all the returning PW1-3 characters are like paper cut outs of themselves because they were too scared to change their characters. Most of the cases are pretty boring and forgettable, the only good thing being the new prosecutor
SoJ is pretty good in comparison but it's an Apollo-centric story that looks to give him an actual back story and drive

Eh, not really. The Great Ace Attorney are just as good, if not better, than the OG games. Just play those if you haven't already.

Ace Attorney 11 will be revealed at the next Nintendo direct.
