Caravan from New Vegas. Me and my buddy have fine-tuned the rules so that it's literally a perfect card game. >small paper clippings with the numbers 21-26 on them so your opponent doesn't have to waste time counting how high your caravan is >2x jacks >2x kings >4x queens, using a queen doesn't end your turn >using aces doesn't end your turn >match point mechanic, chance to save yourself from losing with a one last move if possible >if you're two caravans ahead, you win >if both players have three caravans, the player whose two caravans are higher wins
We have spent countless evenings and nights gettin' our caravan on. It's gigacomfy. Learn to play Caravan.
>>720322570 >White captures the pawn next to black's king with his bishop, checking the king >Black is forced to move the king 1 square up because the knight is defending the other squares >The other knight now moves to d5, checkmating the king. Both knights work together to box him in leaving him nowhere to go.
Turns out it was only 2 moves. It's called the legal trap.
The best turn-based games have all player moves take place simultaneously. The fact that chess has one player gets to move first inexorably creates an imbalance. Chess would be better if both players had to decide on a move and lock it in before that move actually takes place, and then both moves happen at the same time.

how so? if black takes the horse then white can capture the h5 bishop using the queen
i'm a chess newb but white is probably winning hard here.

Too simple to be useful in real life: a mere 8 by 8 grid, no fog of war, no technology tree, no random map or spawn position, only 2 players, both sides exact same pieces, etc.

It's actually incredibly disgusting how much a GM has memorized the game, dumb memorization game for third world children that don't go to school.
Move to Fischer Random already, current game is beyond salvation
