Things went bad well before 2020, but Covid was a death knell. If things were downhill before, it was off a fucking cliff once it went entirely remote.
Anonymous No.720319285 [Report]
It was fairly watchable back in the studio with them together, it was 150% dead once Jeff and the rest of the OGs left.
These new hires suck fucking shit. Idiots, browns, faggots, boring fat dipshits. At least OG fat fucks had some gaming street cred and a bit of charisma.

Nextlander's podcast is fine, but these FMV games videos are unbearable boring. The fuck they're doign and who keeps giving them money?

As bad as Jeff 'my daughter, my sick kids at school, my wife's hard day at work' Gerstmann is, most of his stuff, except for Shittendo ranking, is OKish.

what's wrong now is that all of the unfunny no-talents that were hanging onto the tail of a dead company bought the company. so now you have to watch all of the people jeff wouldn't hire on the screen at the same time.

all their content is boring as fuck, they're just boring people. jeff was the comedic glue, vinny was funnier around him, brad is a wet paper towel, alex might as well be the antichrist of funny.

>Listen to Nextlander ep with Ben Hanson / Mike Mahardy / Dan Ryckert
Kino
>Listen to Nextlander with Brad and Alex
Misery.

I wish Vinny ended up starting a pod with literally anybody else. I love him but jesus fucking christ the other two are so boring to listen to.

podcasts are fine. But you have to be interested in the industry (news). And sometimes phase out when they're talking about political/social issues.

Besides Vinny from NY (born there, I think?), they're Californian dipshits, 110% in line with corporate support for nigger BLM, trannies etc.

They'd be fine if he had an editor cut out the bloat, since there's 30-45min of decent material in what are otherwise 3hr uncut streams.

Anonymous No.720320178 [Report]
People blame the death of Ryan, but the true reason is that they were ahead of the curve in terms of gaming/e-celeb media and failed to capitalize on most of it.

>Make something people like
>People ask for more
>"Yeah, we're not really feeling that anymore"
>"It's like we're just repeating ourselves"

They were some of the earliest Let's Players, refuse to serve the audience who wanted that, so that audience went elsewhere

they're unwatchable for me.
I was born in the 1990, and have zero interest in nintendo.
AMIGA, DOS games... maybe would be cool.

But these games, and I don't want to sound like a bitch, are hard to watch and listen to- they look like shit AND sound harsh to the ear. Even as a background noise they're unpleasant and uninteresting. I'd rather listen to game critique videos, that rnaking has no value.
I don't give a fuck about consoles, but would be OK with Jaguar or PS1.

You sound like a late-era DOS gamer then, since I've had more NES games that sounded far better than my earlier DOS library, prior to sampled audio becoming supported by the popular sound cards (Sound Blaster series) & games.

Well I was born in the 1990, so it's rather obvious.

I'm fine with more crude games, as long as I have personal experience with them, or interest in that IP, like with Duke Nukem 1-2, but I have zero interest in Marios, Zeldas, Jigglypuff Pokeymans or whatever the hell is the modern N 1st party flagship roster.

These 80s games are simply way too dated to be pleasant to listen or watch, w/o nostalgia.

This was pretty huge. I stuck with GB through Patrick and Abby but fell off immediately during COVID.Tried Nextlander and no dice either.

Last bastion for this feel is Mega64 but even their days are numbered.

They were always retards with stupid opinions and get cucked. Remember they got purchased by CBS Viacom, who bought gamespot around the same time. That's why I have no sympathy for Gerstmann getting fired.
Anonymous No.720322346 [Report]
It was a group of people with journalist's knowledge of the industry, good sense of humor and good chemistry combined with the peculiar comfiness of a bunch of people being locked together for extended periods (think of a LAN party going into the night or pulling an all nighter on a project). Every last one of those properties was lost.

>AND sound harsh to the ear.
So annoying that the PC basically standardised for a long time on OPL2/3 but it was pretty much universally used only for dogshit MIDI emulation. the japs were making lesser sound chips pelt out tunes we still remix to this day but PC devs were happy using a multi-format ear rape driver to play the elevator music they commissioned. Every now and then you'd get a monkey island with an actually nice song, but still rather ruined by the choice of instrumentation they used. Unless you really liked that roland soundfont, in which case you must've been in hog heaven.
We've since had some homebrew stuff use OPL trackers to make actually pleasant music and it's amazing how good that cheap sound chip COULD have sounded back in the day. Shame that soundblaster then became the digital sample standard because it was the absolute worst. But I suppose the GUS was never going to be the standard at the price they charged.
I suppose it's good luck within bad luck that PC was such a niche platform that you can't accuse it of holding back the industry. Held back itself more like.
