nobody sits behind cover like a moron, you can get shot thru a wall because the bullets are full metal jacket. this makes the game way more fun because you get die randomly to some sperg with an LMG shooting at you with wallhacks thru multiple walls and theres nothing you can do about it but slide around on the ground like a snake. its so heckin awesome.

Why not just develop them to be realistic? Like shooting tires will pop them. Players can be hit through doors. Vehicles will react to an onslaught of bullets with how they would in real life.

Even milsims like ArmA don't manage to make vehicle combat realistic. I have no idea how you'd expect an arcade cowaduddy shooter to do it any better. It would need to start by adding real combat distances and make concealment worthwhile by not highlighting enemies with red markers. Slow down everyone by 50% too.
the fundamental issue with videogame smallarms combat is that covering fire only works as a concept because of how terrifying being presented with the sound and impact of death is. in a virtual world where the worst possible outcome of death is waiting for the next match it's not actually a sound tactic.
