Can't remember for the life of me wtf game it was where the whole manual was basically a small comic book.

We're there even any "interactive" manuals?

I am thinking about something like:
when you beat a boss or stage, game gives you a code you open the book, then pull right tabs ,it opens a section about the said boss/location

Is it necessary? No. Is it redundant? Perhaps. But could be fun to do IRL

gloomhaven does this, though it's a tabletop game that really should have been a video game instead.
There are blank spots in the manual and after certain events you're instructed to take the correct sticker from the supplies and basically add more content to the manual as you play

Some I remember in no particular order:
>Constructor
The manual was thick as a thesaurus because they printed the whole thing in like 8 different languages.

>Fallout 1 & 2
I remember both as being good and written sort of in character, I think the first one had some recipes for wasteland food.

>Arcanum
Just a really good manual with thorough information about the game, I still have it on my bookshelf

>Starcraft
I remember really enjoying the backstory of the game, don't remember how useful the information in it was though

>Sin
Again, great backstory, the mental image of the main characters burned to a crisp mom waking him up for school sticks with me to this day and I was probably 10 when I read it.

Tunic has a manual built into the game and is used to decipher wtf's going on as you learn the in-world language, if that counts.

Sony.

It's a pretty stock standard manual as far as the contents inside go but I've always liked the look of the first gen pokemon manuals looking like an in-universe booklet, a worn leather journal handed off to new trainers.

That just seems to be Marvelous's shtick right now for good PR.
>committing to full Switch 2 cartridges instead of key cards

My favourite manual of all time is Killzone 1, the game is kinda shit to actually play, but everything else about it is 10/10, especially the manual. It’s a war-time newspaper and all the different sections are disguised as articles, including the mandatory boring stuff like β€œhow to turn on a ps2”. It’s the most high-effort manual I’ve ever seen.

I'd say it's
Homeworld Cataclysm
Half Life Opposing Force
Warcraft II
F-Zero
Link to the Past

I hear Arcanum's has an actual cake recipe in it
