I personally got filters by the trolls that were resistant to fire. I had to burn through all my spells just to beat them and then had to rest. I don't know if that's normal but having to take a nap after killing 3 guys took me out of the game.

Ideally how to play Pathfinder or 3.5e D&D since it doesn't really explain the systems at all.

Play on normal difficulty and have fun. If you think like an adventurer before getting into shit you'll do great and still be challenged. Greatest CRPG options menu of all time too, so if you rightfully don't care about achievements make the game into the RPG you'd enjoy the most for yourself not the losers on this board

buffs, get buffs, get all of the buffs, buff yourself with all of the buffs, constantly keep buffing yourself with all of the buffs

buffs after battle
if you choose to go buffless then you will perish

Classes are going to use multiple stats, do not expect to stack 1 stat entirely

For example, with a bow you will use Dex to hit but Strength for damage. If your archer has all dex and no strength your damage will suck
Casters will use Int, Wis or Cha for some most things, but if a spell needs an attack roll youre using Dex
Your saves (chance to ignore/resist enemy effects) are tied to Wis, Con, Dex and Strength so beware you may be more susceptible if youre lacking in a stat
Dex boosts armor for all characters, Con boosts health, Int boosts skill point gain

You will still need to favor your main stat but be careful in ignoring the others

Casters are mainly utility and support, while you can make them damage focused its not the main thing for most of them. if you want to just throw fireballs try a Kineticist

Bring a cleric or something with healing early on, especially if you’re playing turn-based. The game loves chip damage and status effects like it’s still 2003. Also, don’t sleep on the party formation screen-your squishies will get deleted if you walk around with them in front. Set up proper marching order or get ready to babysit your wizard after every bush encounter.

The Kingmaker management system is more esoteric than the combat. The combat really just boils down to High AC count for defense and high attack bonus for offense. Stack as much as necessary or debuff the enemy’s AC/attack bonus.

The game assumes that you'll be pree-buffing, and is balanced around that.
The first side quest you'll be offered after leaving the tutorial is to get Fangberries. DON'T go there until you are level 4
If you go to the location "A Ford across the Skunk River" during act 1, go revisit it in act 2. It's very important.

Get Delay Poison Communal on your spontaneous casters. When you need it you'll really need it.
Same with Resist Energy Communal and Protection from Energy Communal

You're supposed to use grease to knock them down, then you have your melee units move in for the kill. Once you bring the troll's hp to zero, you hit them with a fire or acid cantrip, or throw an acid / flame flask at them.
You're NEVER supposed to use damage based spells early on. Crowd Control is king because 1 well aimed Crowd Control spell can bring down 3-5 enemies or even a boss
