What would be the reason for doing so? Prime 1 was a remaster so it makes sense to be a surprise, but this is something they want to directly advertise at least 2-3 weeks beforehand.

Shadow dropping is weird. On one hand, it prevents pre release marketing and advertising, negatively affecting a games sales.
On the other, its amazing and incredibly hype to see a great looking game followed by a surprise "out now!"
I bought the oblivion remaster spontaneously just because I thought it was so cool as a shadow drop
