if you buy this you're actually retarded
Anonymous No.720371845 [Report]
Because I already own a very powerful PC and I don't want to play demanding games on a fucking handheld because that'll just be a completely inferior version.
OLED Steam Deck is cheaper and allows me to emulate very well and play indies with low requirements at max settings.

>obscenely large
It's literally the same footprint as the Steam Deck(1 is pictured here, the 2 is slightly smaller)
>dogshit battery life
Applicable for the 1, but the 2 has a bigger battery and more than a 100% performance boost at 18W TDP. At that power it's significantly faster than the Deck at full throttle and gets 4 hours of screen on time for AAA games

This is the real issue with these handhelds. You don't start seeing meaningful increase on these newer chips over Z1E until you get into the 60W+ range which these systems can't handle

If you give that Ryzen AI Max 395 70w you get 16 Zen CPU cores nearly comparable to a desktop CPU and the IGP on that bitch is comparable to a desktop RTX 4060 or 4070 depending on the metric. Downclocked for power and thermals its still the most efficient thing out there which is insane. AMD made an entire new interconnect just for this one SKU and they might not even continue it in the future.

I'm waiting for when more reputable brands to release their versions of handhelds with the max+ 395. If the fucking LeGo2 with Z2E is already around $1300 and the purported price of 395+ handhelds is around $1500, you'd be only spending an extra $200 for a like +150% performance boost.

You're stretching it
With enough power it's comparable to a laptop 4060, which is WAY more powerful than people who haven't used it probably assume, but it's still nowhere near a desktop 4070

>too big and heavy
>no front-firing speakers. hell they're not even down-firing, they're on the top of the fucking unit
it still doesn't satisfy my preference for d-pad on top, but I'd MUCH rather have the Go S with this chip in it. Superior ergos, size, weight, controls properly built into the unified shell, and speakers actually aimed towards the player.

Brother I love my OLED Deck, but it's already too fucking big, and you can clearly see in your image the Go is even bigger. The even bigger problem is it's over 200g heavier, and again, the OLED Deck is already too heavy.

"high spec" PCs, as in anything exceeding a XX60 card from the last generation, make up a tiny percentage of the PC userbase as seen in the Steam hardware surveys. The reason why some big budget games don't target the median PC isn't because they're targeting high spec PCs, it's because they're targeting consoles

It's not just big budget games, lots of indies also fail to optimize for the median PC audience, not out of malice or anything, they just don't have a target. "It runs on my old laptop" can hit different depending on your laptop, but "it runs on Deck" is both a good benchmark to strive towards and a checkmark you can apply for to get more sales from people browsing the "it runs on Deck" list.

I don't think that even shows up for people who don't have a Deck dude, I've never seen a list or a "Deck verified" seal on any game on the Steam store

It should be doing it natively, but the Legion Go implementation for SteamOS is newer so most community bindings would not work for games that support them since they'd need to be tailored toward it specifically. It's going to take time to be updated for that specific way to play it.
