DD1 has a better artstyle
DD2 has a better economy

it has some neat features but otherwise it's pretty boring and samey all the way through, went and replayed DD1 and while i did have rose-tinted glasses for it, it still kept me interested more than DD2

DD2 was too big of a world for how little was going on, the elf village is missed potential, the thief village is missed potential, it's all very barebones and the only thing i can REALLY say i remember is
>Cyclops slipping on an ice cube into a ravine
>Ogre ambushing me from behind a wall and punching me straight into a tree anime style
>that one quest where you can optionally kill a gorgon, just to cut off her head and turn some random monster to stone, so an artist can faithfully recreate them for their job

Its a fine game, overhyped, underdelivered.

The fact they arent going to do DLC says that DD is dead for real now. I wouldve played more DD if they made it, the problem with DD2 is that it felt like it was missing half the game, not that I disliked what I actually got to play.
Anonymous No.720375201 [Report] >>720391539 >>720402449
Yes, contrary to what midwits will tell you this one isn't worse, it's just different.
the combat and sidequests are better while the enemy variety is worse.
you still get a great memorable adventure which is the core of this series imo. Adventurekino.
Anonymous No.720375269 [Report]
Yeah, it's fun. I didn't like the story as much as the first game, but the story was always the weakest point of DD anyway. The new classes in DD2 are fun and I really liked the new or changed monsters. Quest structure is about the same as the previous game; it's mostly fun just to go out, kill stuff, and gear up.

That is one of the ugliest cat persons I've ever seen. Why did they think the game even needed them?
Anonymous No.720375414 [Report]
i like playing 2 more than one for a variety of reasons (core systems are a bit more fun, stuff like oxcarts/camping/monster infights) but i dearly miss 1's armor system and bitterblack was a good replayable dungeon even if i don't need level 3 stuff anymore

Both DD games suck because they don't understand RPG systems and enemy design
Anonymous No.720379830 [Report]
>>720375145
This is the correct take. What is actually in the game is great. There's just not enough of it, and too much of it is overtly unfinished. Both DD1 and DD2 are unfinished, janky, and glimpses of greatness with huge empty swathes were clearly content was once supposed to be. It's wild that they apparently made the exact same mistakes with both games.

It's an above average game, it's not spectacular, it's not not bad.

Slides off rock killed it for me.
Game about exploration, yet I slide off every single 15 degree slope if its a rock. Movement just isn't very fun.
Otherwise it's fine, just not what I was hoping for. No fashion's dogma was lame. Very obvious budget cutting measures throughout, endgame is lame as fuck.
Pic related sums up my feelings on the two games well.

The problem I have with this game, and most modern games, is the movement feels sluggish.
It is possible to have good looking animations that are also responsive to player input, DD1 nailed this.
Third person action games from the last decade seem to make player inputs a suggestion rather than a command, prioritizing animation over gameplay.
It makes everything worse, and DD is nothing without it's gameplay. It's shit.
Pure liquid shit.

I liked exploring the world, camping with pawns, and modding monsters and being ambushed at unexpected more times than I liked the main story. I feel like it was deliberately obtuse until the very end, but it didn't move quite as intensely as DD1's when the unmoored world happened. I wonder if DD2 might've been better off with a less structured story, and more of an open-ended design?

I liked the first one and the sequel was hot piss
>Debilitations system gutted
>No endgame activity at all
>Worse enemy variety than even base DD1. Where are the Gazers? Where are the dragon variants? Where are the Cockatrice?
>Gutted the fantastic layered gear system for no reason at all
>Gutted crafting system, there are incredibly few ingredients
>Shit loot in just about every dungeon, usually a health pot or anti-burn potion. No drop tables. No loot refresh.
>Didn't bother to learn anything at all from the improvements DA made that elevated the first game to cult classic
>Took away Mystic Knight and the new classes are shitass

The only things that improved werse
>Initial character creation was more detailed and you could make your pawn oiled up and a real freak
>It was better looking than the first but that's not hard to do 12 years later
>Combat was tighter and climbing on enemies was better
And that is about it

For every thing they improved they took away like 3 things that made the first game actually unique. From everything I saw from interviews with the Devs I guess they thought everyone playing the first game was retarded and couldn't figure out how armor or the leveling system worked in DD1. I have no idea why they dropped the online interactive activities like Ur Dragon and didn't expand on it at all. They bent over backwords to try to get the normies and they fuckin gottem based on the people in this thread.

Incorrect. The gameplay is worse in 2.
>>720375201
>the combat and sidequests are better
Its worse.

>Removed animation cancelling
>Changed the physics to make them slower and more weighty
>Enemies are super squishy and way less aggressive
>Enemy variety is a lot worse
>Removed skills and status effects
>4 active skills instead of 6
>FOV changed to be way too close to the character
>Wayfarer is an abomination of a class
>If you wanna run dagger + bow then you either have 3 skills or you have to pause the game to switch your weapon (same with any two weapons really...)
Dragon's Dogma 2 feels much worse to play. These are JUST my issues with the gameplay. If I went into every issue I had with it, I could easily rant about it for 5+ posts.
