I played 25 hours in the first couple of days after Voyagers and then my wife jumped on with me. We were flying in my Corvette for less than 3 minutes before my Corvette despawned and my save file was fucked. Why this game doesn't retain more than 1 previous save is a complete fucking mystery. Never giving Sean another chance.

I am once again asking if anyone has a mod or INI edit or anything that makes the LOD/draw distance for terrain increase because even maxxed its just way too low. I know there are mods that exist but they all seem out of date, im looking for something that works on the latest verison. At this rate I might unironically have to figure out how to start modding this game myself because I cant believe everyone else is ok with the "ultra" draw distance.

They slap on some new ship parts and call it content while the gameplay loop is still "scan rock, mine rock, build base you'll leave in 10 minutes." I recently put about 30 hours into it on a fresh save and burnt out hard once I did all the tutorial side quests. I want to finish the expedition, but I am so fucking tired of the back and forth between everything where I am spending more time warping around than playing the actual game, just to do chores. I really wish they would add content that makes you spend more time in one spot.

Played for an hour then refunded because mining stuff so I could refill bars on my screen to mine more stuff was boring as hell. I don't know how they ever thought this "gameplay" would be good enough to sell to people.

The UI really filtered me, sure it looks pretty but in practice it's slow, unintuitive, and frustrating. When the majority of your game is played through menus it's really important that they're snappy and readable

There's VERY little "game" here.
It is however the best space sim ever made. There's an incredible amount of things to do and see.
There is no reason or purpose to interact with any of it unless you want to.
I play it every couple years and I don't interact with the mining mechanic after fixing the initial spaceship. I immediately become a space pirate until I can buy what I want.

anything else is mostly just resources you can easily get other ways, or for credits (aka worthless)
farming tritium for freighter fuel is a pain.

just started playing, is there any reason to use starships over a corvette? I made a corvette basically immediately because I found a paradise planet with corvette parts on it one system over from my starting location and I just don't see any reason to give up flying around with a mini base full of incredibly useful things.

true enough, not being able to land the corvette on a landing pad if you made a smaller one, or being able to land on a platform you constructed sucks ass. I ended up abandoning my first planetary base after I made my corvette because I managed to fit basically everything I needed onto it like storage and a refiner. I guess starships are still good cash to scrap, I didn't know to metagame the free frigate so I have a shitass B class, been scrapping sentinel ships for the cash to get an S class

no, here's hoping they do something like it for when they finally decide to drop support for the game. multiplayer with a friend is very easy to do even separated from the rest of the playerbase just because of how large the game space is, but it is never truly private.

60h in and I'm going to drop it. It's getting annoying. There's really no point in any of this, it's just a whole lot of uninteresting things to do over and over again. A whole universe of the same 10 planets and space stations. 10 years of patches and still glitches everywhere. Flight "physics" for toddlers. Elite Dangerous has about 10% of the "things to do" NMS has, but it took me almost 400h until I had enough.
It's not a "bad" game for the 20 shekels I paid. The first 30h or so where OK.

yeah longevity basically entirely relies on setting you own goals. my goal was to build a deep sea base, which unfortunately requires me to do a whole lotta questing because of how deep sea planets are gated.
