So now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that the location of the Pollen Heart is the most fuck-stupid obtuse thing in the entire game? With the other two, it was reasonable to assume their respective locations. Of course an item called the Hunter Heart is located in Hunter's March. Encrusted Heart can't be anywhere else on the map, so that was a freebie. The heart with POLLEN in the name has to be located in area where enemies spew POLLEN. It even shows up on the Shellwood quick map. Except, no, you fuckwit. You have to backtrack to the spot where the big elevator fell, smack a blink-and-you-will-miss-it breakable wall, and then backdoor to the area. The one hint prior was there was some vines located next to where you fell in that dark room. God forbid you take a break after that point. Seriously? Everyone in the playtesting room came to unanimous verdict that a reasonable person would be searching for the heart of the woods near the fucking Underworks area? Why did they make one so cryptic and the other two so mind-numbingly simple?

Do you know the area where you can fall into bilewater? It's to the left of that. You have to start falling and then do some platforming, I think harpoon and stuff whatnot. It's brutal because if you fuck up you'll just fall right into bilewater and have to an hero to get back up fastest

I found juggling to be the biggest cancer, if only because you have to do 3 each, and because it doesn't really correspond to an established gameplay element. Dodging and bouncing is literally just combat and platforming, but juggling is mostly gimmicks, especially since there are no enemies that can actually be juggled.

Bounce and juggle easy to do with the reaper's crest. For juggle, they made it so that you always get the overhand swing if you are trying to hit a flea, and the dash attack can come in clutch. I almost never used reaper in playthrough and it saved me for those.

It seems like there was a lot of ocean-themed shit that got cut. Coral Tower was originally gonna be an entire platforming area and it got turned into a series of gauntlets. This entire town and biome seem to be gone. Maybe DLC, maybe it just didn't synergize with TC's vision for the game. 1. Use Wanderer, and I say this as someone who dislikes Wanderer. Attack speed is the most important factor.
2. As a rule of thumb, always try to hit fleas from the same side. You influence their direction with you hit them. Vertical attacks will redirect a flea after 1 or 2 hits, while lateral attacks will immediately redirect them but are more time-consuming the properly position.
For example, if two fleas spawn on opposite sides of the stage, first left, then right, hit the first flea from the inside (right side), and then rush to hit the second flea from the outside as well (right side).
3. Try to minimize the amount of time you spend jumping, use jumping to control your momentum.

Because while the knight cares for us, and presumably other life, the knight isn't actually in control. The knight just carries a lot of influence over the void, but is neither not omnipresent nor omniscient. Make note that even in Hollow Knight, while your shade and shade brothers will stop harming you after you've obtained the void heart, the vicious void sea will still lunge at and harm you.

Granny Silk always loved Lace. That was neither new nor sudden.
In fact much was sacrificed for Lace's sake. Not necessarily for Pharloom's greater benefit, but at least for Lace's subsistence.

And though Lace surely harbours some affection for her mother and isn't just full of spite or hatred or anything. Considering how Lace was described as living as a guardian of Pharloom, even if at the detriment to most of its citizens, but presumably in order to live up to the role given to her by her mother. Presumably to please her or make her proud.
But evidently. It's also obvious that Lace wasn't happy. Felt stifled and restricted by said role. Or eve Pharloom at large. And she felt her instable existence to be harrowing and dreadful, and further demoralized by her senior sibling's much worse state.

In short it's clear that Lace and Silk did not understand each other. And though Silk loves Lace, Lace wanted to be "free" however that was to be defined.
So it's clear that there was already tension between Lace and Silk even before Hornet's arrival. But Hornet's capture does escalate things. It appears like Lace is assuming that Silk might be aiming to replace her with Hornet, similarly to how the other weavers were replaced by Phantom and Lace. Since Hornet is special. A weaver like Lace's predecessors, but also a pale being like Silk herself. So it seems like Lace simultaneously harboured resentment towards Hornet from the get go. And probably even jealousy since Hornet was "free". But it also seems like Lace kind of enjoyed how Hornet were shaking things up and destabilizing Silk's order, which would align with Lace's rebellious desires.

And when Lace saves Hornet from Silk, she outright claims that was her final act of rebellion, but it makes sense since the act robs Silk of Hornet, as if Lace wouldn't let Silk to have her. Saving Hornet's life, instead sinking to her doom alongside her mother. So that instead of Hornet being claimed, she'd be the only one to run free, with Silk falling. And Lace already felt doomed, she presumably didn't feel much resistance to the idea of falling down with her.


Hornet's actions towards Lace also make a fair amount of sense I'd claim. Not only did Lace save Hornet's life, so to some degree she probably feels a bit indebted. But more than that I imagine that Hornet likely feels some degree of kinship with Lace. Both Hornet and Lace are the princesses of their respective kingdoms. Both are daughters of pale beings, who have lived long, cursed existences not by their own choice.
And since Hornet is hopeful unlike the doomer Lace, she likely wants to believe that Lace can be saved just like she'd like to hope that she herself could live true.
That's my take on it all at least. Seems plausible to me. Makes sense I'd say. Don't know if I missed or misinterpreted something, but the way I understand it I am not particularly confused.
