The good goy super deluxe paypig edition is 140$ so if they have a million pre-orders of that version they covered development. They easily had a million on xbox alone, and at least that many on playstation and pc as well. So even if half of that disappears to the platforms and taxes, they instantly recouped development costs. I wouldn't be surprised if they did even bigger numbers than that on pre-orders. The previous game sold 25 million copies in six years, and even if most of those are on a steep discount, it made gamepass which was easily enough to recover development costs in and of itself and this game will end up on there too.

Sounds like the genre is shit then. Farming for stats inherently clashes with FPS fundamentals. Even if you like shit like deadlock it only just gets away with it because of a lot of movement mechanics and terrain (and even then it still filters plenty of people), something no looter shooter has because it makes the loot harder to get.
Looter shooters are the worst parts of ASSFAGs and MMOs but you don't even have the "I'm better than the other guy across from me" moments or any sort of team strategy, just mediocre shooting.

I will say my first complaints about the game are the lack of an FoV slider even with the day one patch, and on XsX there is zero reason for the quality preset to even exist. If you don't use performance even at 1080p you are retarded. Otherwise my first hour has been pretty solid and the game still looks great on performance preset.

Performance preset feels like 60+, quality feels like 24-30. Enemies move a good bit but do give you an opportunity to get shots off, I think a lot of the footage you've seen is of normal difficulty rather than hard. On hard they don't just stand around as much. Even with aim assist you still need to aim to land shots. For sensitivity 3.50 feels best to me for general look and ADS. I'm only an hour in so can't say much about the guns, they look different but so far feel pretty similar but I've literally only just started playing and besides the starter pistol have only picked up another pistol of green rarity.

I love them all. 1 is good but very dated and still has bugs, like FFYL mode being screwy sometimes. 2 I have played the least. They're not even good in this (from what I've seen) because enemies have a lot of HP. That means if you no scope with a sniper for massive damage, it feels way better than shooting something 100 times. Shotgun does the same thing but at close range.

bl3 is also terrible as a loot'n'shoot. only gold weapons matter, a bunch of story bosses are gold pinatas to make sure you always have golds, and scaling is at the point where a moderately good gold weapon at level 15 is still better than a purple dropped at level 30. the progression is absolutely terrible with these elements because you are basically forced to go through entire planets with your entire build set in stone as [the gold weapons i have found], only maybe upgrading your shield or grenade or trying out a side weapon that is worse than the gold weapon you got last planet, until you finally get to the boss of that planet and they are a loot pinata and drop you five new gold weapons that are now your entire build for the next planet. I do not regret spending 141$ on this game. I don't know if I would recommend that version of it for anyone that's not already a huge fan that knows they're going to play the fuck out of it, but as that person, I absolutely don't regret pre-ordering. It's a great game and a great borderlands game. It's still got a little jank but nothing some patches and updates can't fix. FoV slider needs to be added literally next week on Tuesday though, and sooner on PC. Need to be able to run 80 minimum if not 90-100. Don't give a shit if they have to drop settings to do it either. Are those charge up weapons supposed to feel like absolute shit? Why does ever Borderlands have weapon manufacturers that blow ass? Every. Single. One.

Those weapons that change from Pistol Mode to SMG mode, is there any difference in the way they function besides the ammo types? Doesn't seem it.

The charge guns can roll with crazy shit like gravity bomb alt fire at blue or higher, that's the actual point of the manufacturer. White and green ones are ass.

Does the gunplay and enemy gibs feel as satisfying as 3? Shotguns in 3 were so fun because they would ragdoll enemies off their feet.

Does it suffer from being open world? BL2 in particular had pretty memorable areas with fantastic level design. Like the Caustic Caverns under Sanctuary.

I'm not sure why nobody's tried making it, I think it's just a lot of work for an indie team and so it's pretty scary to think about, while AAAs are just too retarded to do it properly so they might as well do whatever's popular instead of trying to fill a niche

Borderlands also has the coop part, which unironically is pretty rare nowadays, most games are just competitive PVP garbage and there's not that much coop (unless you count the hundreds of rust/minecraft clones but nobody wants to play that garbage)

I'm playing Amon and he's super strong for soloing. You know the fire punch skill? Check the first upgrade on the left side and you'll understand why he's the easiest solo. You can just activate your skill if your shield breaks.
You can try the other characters, but I tried both Rafa and Amon, and Amon is better.

I'm 100% sure the fire punch is the best solo tree. You can upgrade your skill so you get full heal + shields on activation, and there's a node that makes you invulnerable when you use your ultimate. You read the shield skill and assume that's the best for solo, but the upgrades make the fire skill the best.
