Chaos Dwarves are so fun that it actually kinda ruined TWW3 for me. No other race can compete. It's just a shame you need to keep one of the chaos dwarf lords (alive) as an enemy to farm their perk for +15% artillery range and really maximize the Chaos Dwarf artillery roster.

For most cases, the designers are actually allowed to use aesthetics that look good instead of just having a "safe" look. IMO a big part of looking cool is looking dangerous. Ned Flanders doesn't look cool because he's a doughy, regular looking middle-aged guy in a turtleneck. Maybe he could hurt you but it's unlikely. By contrast, everything about a Chaos Dwarf looks extremely dangerous. They might even accidentally hurt you just because of all the metal spikes they've got on them. Something that's harmless can never be truly cool, only cute or maybe beautiful. But people admire things that are dangerous.

Stormcast were meant to be a big huge thing that got 40k players into Age of Sigmar because GW thought "People like big armor man in space, let's put big armor man in fantasy!" and it immediately didn't work because nobody liked Stormcast.
GW then went sideways with it, trying to make Stormcast more 'inclusive' so that they could be advertised as such. Once again it failed because nobody really likes Stormcast.
They then revamped Stormcast across the board, slimming them down and making them actually decently pleasant to look at; in part by not painting them in ugly gaudy gold. This actually made Stormcast somewhat interesting for a time, but GW then walked this back somewhat by once again making them fuck ugly piss gold, which nobody liked.
Stormcast lore is a fucking mess 80% of the time and that guts AoS since, like with Marines in 40k, GW REALLY wants to sell you lots of Stormcast and thus made them the lynchpin faction.

Conceptually Sigmarines aren't terrible, but they needed real stakes involved with them. Losing your memory/personality isn't enough of a singular drawback. If the end result was them completely shattering and dying without promise of an afterlife etc etc etc it would be somewhat better and at least address the issue of why they can't dominate the setting due to not being able to die. Their other core problem is their shitty overdesign and inclusion of women. The latter models definitely got somewhat better but it is far far too late to fix up their aesthetics at this point.

Beastmen were never the worst faction in so far as their ability to fight in battle. It was their campaign that was dogshit, and they lacked anti-large options as that became more and more necessary as the game evolved. Their DLC towards the end of TWW2 though fixed up the campaign side of things as well as gave them more units to fill in gaps and flesh out their roster. They have also benefitted from various Chaos faction unit additions in TWW3 and had them added to their roster as well. Beastmen are fantastic now.

Partly but not entirely. They made AoS because they wanted a fantasy line that made Space Marine money. WHFB was wasted shelf space as far as they were concerned, though they entirely brought that upon themselves by screwing the barrier to entry for the game along with massive price increases that basically made getting in very impractical for new players. There is also the whole Finecast fiasco to consider which horribly screwed it too given its reliance on blister models at that time. 40k was able to survive Finecast simply because so much of it was already in plastic. As for trademark stuff 40k was already getting the rebrand to protect it from those dastardly 3rd party modellers, but WHFB was harder to do the same thing to as it was the IP that was proven to have become the definition of generic and thus not able to have much of it trademarked. So nuking it and giving everything stupid new names in AoS was part of the solution.

Sigmar had a disastrous first edition, genuinely one of the biggest fuck-ups possible even by GW standards. The ONLY good of it was that some of the modelling team was able to produce some decent models, but the lore and rules were complete train wrecks.
It's theorized that this was due to GW's executives pushing things way too fast, as 40k was also undergoing some significant changes.
This failure led to a major restructuring of GW's executives, including the then-CEO getting ousted and replaced.
The new CEO halted all of 40k's changes and had AoS remade essentially from the ground up, rewriting some lore, completely overhauling the rules, and changing the general approach to the setting. Since then AoS has seen fairly decent success. It's not anywhere close to 40k levels of success, as 40k fucking dominates the industry, but it beats out most other games.

Some of the "southern" Norsca tribes don't actually worship chaos as such.
Norsca is a bit of an interesting one because the lore is actually quite fleshed out but every writer immediately has some sort of aneurism and just puts them down as being the berserker raider stereotype instead of traders and explorers which a lot of Norse in Warhammer are.
Plenty of Norscans live in the empire and Marienburg, they're pretty much indistinguishable from Nordlanders.
They put their faith in spirits and nature and just accept the 4 powers as manifestations of nature, rather than actively worshipping them like the northern tribes do.
