I wish you could change the sub language independently with the game language. Playing a game in English because it's a lot more easier to communicate with English in an English community while preferring JP dub is a suffering.

Well yeah, it's a localization, anon. Not a 1 to 1 translation. And unfortunately depending on the localizer you get some particularly egregious changes.
Could be worse, the dialogue could be changed a ton AND the game gets censored to top it off.

Untrue, depending on the localizers you get some subtle and occasionally just outright stupid subs.
So many fan subs insert memes in appropriately and Crunchyroll subs often times end up cycling through a thesaurus to avoid repetitive dialogue but in the process change the word to one that doesn't convey the nuance of the original dialogue.
And then in some cases like official releases you get the dreaded dubtitles.

Localizers are all evil subhuman scum, changing even one word from the original text always makes the result unreadable trash that has 0% in common with the original text. Localization should never be done, the only true form of translation is raw MTL output where no disgusting human being has had the chance to """improve""" it by making changes.

It’s a synecdoche. So it should be translated into English as “unwashed butthole”.

It’s when you refer to a whole by one of its parts. Like saying “boots” to refer to soldiers in the sentence “we need more boots on the ground.”

Exactly! That's where the pitfall occurs. It would be much simpler to translate it as "those dirty/unwashed assholes" because in English, that pretty much conveys the sentiment (we think they are lesser people and insult them as such) even though you get 0 of the cultural nuance that makes it a lot funnier.

In 99% of instances, there's no way to convey that much context with a translation so you have to stick with the big picture instead.

It's a Chinese game, but on the latest Zenless Zone Zero main story, one of the characters made a Jojo reference in the JP dub (*lick" This is the taste of a liar), not sure how it was on the CN dub, but the EN dub completely changed the dialogue to something generic.

You may be right, it's rather presumptuous of a localizer to assume that the audience is too retarded to make the effort to figure that shit out on their own. Lone Wolf and Cub included a giant glossary that featured pretty much all the terminology that required context to understand, which was a LOT, but it was awesome and taught me a shit ton about Japan that I would've never known otherwise.
