I’m actually happy about this. I played DQ7 on 3DS over the course of a few years and enjoyed its episodic, anime arc structure. It’s a great game and I’ll play this for sure.

It looks like DQ7's key art, including the flaws- those being big heads on small bodies. It was among the least liked DQs in part due to its art style- nobody liked how it looked visually on PSX and the key art didn't save it either.
That's partly why the 3DS remake gets jerked off so much, since the art style is adapted to a more modern Toriyama look.

It's just really slow, and tedious at parts. You visit one island, do the story. Then you go back, and immediately revisit the same island, just later in the timeline.
But I really liked the characters except Red, she was really boring, and some of the side quest stories were really good. Classes and so on is fun, but they mangled it by not letting all/most of the skills transfer over to other classes
