FF2 on the wii was garbage because they had to make the jumpscares that happened naturally in the fixed camera perspective into full cutscenes that wrestle control from you and drain all tension they might have had.
And the franchise going forward kept the same retarded design choices.

That's me and I'm still hyped for the remake because of the gameplay from 4 and 5. My main issues with 5 was the story but the gameplay was the best in the series imo. Motion controls won't be a problem anymore and if it releases on PC, then I'm sure there will be a Japanese dub. I hope Tsuki Amano does another song for them, she's pretty iconic for the series.

Honestly, I'm annoyed. I love the series to death but a(nother) remake of 2 is the absolute last thing I wanted to see. I want 6, but if we're gonna go the remake route then at least remake 1, or even 3. 2 already had its shot. I'd even take barebones modern ports of the first 3 games. I guess this isn't a bad move for future fans and of course 2 is good, but it's the least exciting thing they could've announced for me.

One already exists, the original is still good, there are two much more reasonable targets in the series if you HAVE to go with a remake, and there hasn't been a new FF in over a decade now. 2 would benefit greatly from it since 5's combat system is basically a much, much better version of what 2 was trying to do. 2 implemented more mob encounters and so they restructured combat to be more dependent on distance rather than charged power. The end result is that there is almost no need to seriously value positioning in 2 since your power output wasn't dependent on holding a charge. 5 allows you to brute force your own openings with more aggressive play, which would work FAR better for mob encounters.

Well part of the reason back then was I didn't want to give money to Nintendo and I hated handhelds. But still. Really dodged a bullet it seems, especially with that Miku incest shit.

The house segments are atmospheric, but not so great for the overall pacing. If it can be a single button press R3 (like 2005 Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence (the update to Snake Eater) to swap from classic to modern camera, that would be great and would make all the difference.

+ The camera pointing upwards the tower where the Dr.Aso fight would be, showing the importance of that ritual location
+ Fixed camera angle showing that Mio is sandwiched between Twin Doll far far away from the camera and very close to the camera the 2nd twin. Showing 3 characters at once at a T junction. That cinematic style to show 3 characters and their respective positions is lost when u go Over The shoulder camera. When u enter room at that angle you'll only see Mio. And at best 1 twin and Mio at a time. Not all 3. Maybe good for combat but not for the setup.

Trailer was okay but I am going to need raw gameplay to see how the atmosphere is actually in the game.
Art style wise the characters do feel faithful to the game's artstyle but I do feel they look a bit too soft.
I am still very biased towards FF4's art style because while the characters look beautiful, they still have that wispy and frail look that actually looks like they're haunted inside. FF leads need to look weak like you could push them over and they'd die.
