No gatekeeping here. You like off model Hex Maniac, go nuts. It just means you like a different Hex Maniac that's made from PokΓ©mon. Maybe you do like qualities about the canon Hex Maniac and maybe your appreciation for these tweaks are so minor, but there absolutely exists a canon version of her you elected to rather have seen modified. That's fine... but that's just not the Hex Maniac PokΓ©mon had made. You chose another HM, so even if you like the canon Pokemon HM you evidently didn't like her enough to not want to see her altered. If that's gatekeeping, you did it yourself. And all of this fine to feel and believe, but just don't go around saying you love X character for reasons that don't even exist to x character. Doesn't matter if she's not a real person, she has a design that was released in a piece of work. Go to deviantart and make fanart or OC derrivatives all day long, but the canon of her design is basically an objective reality that this is what this character looks like. To feel liberal with changing any of that for little reason is how we got so many race swaps and gender swaps completely inventing new characters, which then slippery slope leads us into rewriting old characters with the same "hey, who cares?" logic.
