It's alright, but it feels like they learned almost nothing from Pokemon Unite. Very steamrolly with swingy objectives, whiplash-inducing time-to-kill disparity between the roles and even characters within each role, little to no launch content, only one map, etc.

Animations are cool, though.

it's mediocre with a fair bit of soul. Launch Roster is pretty surprising though. No FF Frieza, Super or Kid Buu, god forms, Black, Jiren, Fusions of any kind. GT got in but only Uub and Baby pre-Vegeta. Somehow Bojack instead of ZBroly, Janemba, or Bardock.
Like Legitimately the devs have to be actual fans of the franchise for some of these picks.
Pros:
>short matches (5-6 mins)
>every character is unlockable with play
>no carry meta
Cons:
>absolutely no comeback potential if you lose a back row GoD
>tanks are absurd, dealing just as much damage as dps but having 3 times the health and survivability
>early quitters force the game to end in draw
>CC is incredibly powerful with very little counterplay due to how flashy everything is
It's certainly worth keeping an eye on, but as it stands I don't see myself sticking with it.

It's a live service game. They need to sell you a new character every month for the next half decade.
People will redownload and buy Jiren and Frieza six months from now, but they sure as fuck wouldn't for Uub.

I like how strange the launch roster is. It seems to prioritize variety

How is the direction of Zeno determined? Does he just go back and forth, because I'd prefer if he acted more like a payload that needed to be pushed

There are timers, one for each lane/team. If a timer hits zero and there's no zeno already in that lane, it spawns one.
The timer goes down faster every time you get a kill on a neutral mob or player.
If you're farming and killing hard enough, it's possible to chain them before your opponent gets one.
