The issue with BOFW are the lack of dungeons and very repetitive content, TOTK did some effort to mitigate this but it obviously isn't enough but the biggest issue is how the open world design forces the game to always be on tutorial mode.

Nintendo has been trying to catch that high from the BOTW E3 trailer le epic landscape reveal ever since that game came out. All it's done is water down the games, create massive dev times and obliterate performance. A decade for prime 4 and it's gonna be 80% sand at 30 fps.

In hindsight, open world is the way to go for Zelda. No question. snoys acting like open world is le dated and yet expecting 1:1 OoT remakes is ironic, and that isn't feasible. The parts that stood out in OoT was always the world and immersing in it. The 3d novelty. oot is a polished game but botw has a lot of that. 3d novelty can't wonder everyone forever. The lava dungeon for example was a cakewalk. It isn't that good. What's left? water temple memes? Aside from that it's not #1 of all time. At best #20 or up. I don't expect every franchise to go open world but for this one that focuses on the world and has always been about that it makes sense.
