It definitely overstays it's welcome with by the end of act 2, and having an act 3 is overkill. I actually liked not having void or dream elements in the game.
As far as the map goes, there's too much to explore with terrible rewards; this creates 2 issues:
1 - all the good and interesting rewards are shoved into the latter part of the game. This inclueds the masks, which is annoying because everything does 2 damage and you're stuck with 6 masks until the middle of act 2.
2 - There's no NPC to guide the player or give them hints so you have to manually check everything to find what you're looking for, and with a game this massive? Fuck that. I hope you remember that NPC behind a door in Greymoor is the one you need to go to once infected, as an example. I didn't consider them because I thought they wanted a meal or something. Point is that it's demoralising if you don't have a clear path forward, requiring you to look things up online, which is bad game design as it takes players out of the game.
