Gamefreak became a husk after burnout from Gen 5 not doing as good despite giving it the last bit of SOVL for a main Pokemon game. They also stopped letting people make SOVL spinoffs and just turned it into a grind.

I can't begin to tell you how right you are. Gen 5 felt like such a complete upgrade after a relatively by-the-numbers (but still good) Gen 4 in a way that made me really optimistic about the future of the series. To have it followed up by X/Y, which instantly felt inferior in every possible way from every generation before it, confirmed that the franchise had truly jumped the shark by going 3D. Game Freak are fucking red devils, and their modern diehard fans are bottom-feeders.

I'll tell you what went wrong, faggot. After the absolute PEAK that was ORAS Pokemon went onto a downward slope.

It started in 2016 with Pokemon Go slop that pandered towards normies. I can remember being in Highschool and every stacy and chad was obsessed with it. Lillie in Pokemon Sun was the closest thing I've ever had to a girlfriend and those games were great but it got kinda screwy with USUM.

And then Sword and Shield happened. I can remember buying them and feeling absolutely NOTHING while playing them from start to finish. May just as well be a hallway walking simulator.

In ORAS, you got mega evolution, beautiful tropical region, Wally becoming a BADASS at the end of Victory Road with a beautiful backdrop, and you get to ride fucking MEGA RAYQUAZA to break though a meteor.

What do you get in SW SH? An empty open slop area with fuck all-else to do.

Ever since then, it just got worse and worse. I didn't even bother buying Scarlet/Violet because the games lacked soul and looked like total shit. I'm holding out for hopium that Gen 10 will make Pokemon great again but I don't see it happening. Shit's fucked.

The 3DS Pokemon games are like the Star Wars prequels. They are shit, but zoomers pretend that they are good because what came afterwards was even worse.

I am so hyped for the new legends.
Big pokemon city with people and pokemon running around doing pokemon world things,

Legends Arceus was a cool game, but the primitive settlements didn't quite agree with me. The battles lacked a certain cinematic flair that a rpg needs. Also the game stayed just a bit too G rated for my liking. the constant zig zagging between everyone being terrified of pokemon but also nothing really dangerous is going on annoys me to no end.

Real time combat is a game changer, as is mega evolution and raids. I hope the story isn't some overly handholdy mess. I like feeling like I'm going on an adventure for myself, and honestly I don't think pokemon has gotten that right since the jump to 3d.

Gen 5 is the most by-the-numbers gen there is, what the fuck. Literally no meaningful additions besides new abilities, awful designs, utterly boring map that loops in a circle with no interconnectedness, removed features for trash like the Dream World. BWniggers live in bizarre world.
