How does something like Prime 4 happen exactly?
I'm disappointed already. Not mad, but disappointed.
On some level, I have noticed it's probably extremely difficult to actually market the real appeal of Metroid games.
At their best they make you feel like you're lost in space, exploring an alien planet. At least that's what they do for me anyway.
"This game induces an interesting lonely feeling" is hardly something flashy you can put into a trailer.
So this motorcycle honestly comes off as a decision mostly meant to have something cool in trailers. It doesn't look like it adds much to the game in ways I would find meaningful (seriously why is this not a suit upgrade).
But how do the people making these games get to this point, where they're trying to take something unique, something that stands out from the rest of the market in an interesting way, and ... instead of trying to sell people on what makes it unique ... begin to homogenize it and make it more like everything else?
How can the industry figure out how to resist this trend towards homogenization and development by herd mentality?
