It’s refuted easily every time. There does not exist a single game that simulates a solar system in the way OW does, and the intricacies of its puzzle span the entire map in a way very few other games do. The puzzles themselves aren’t the most difficult ever and the solutions are usually given to the player if they can actually find them, but that’s fine as the game encourages exploring to find answers.

Genuinely, if there’s a game out there that does what Outer Wilds does but better, I’d love to play it.

To be fair the ending was fucking garbage. You spend the entire game trying to stop the sun from blowing up and ending the loop and instead you just watch your entire planet decimated, your race go extinct and then minutes later "welp i guess i'll die LMAO".

There's even an ending in which you just drive out of the system to "survive the sun" but it's a "bad unfinished ending". Bullshit. If nothing was gonna matter, why bother? Why stop the loop if it means everything and everyone dies?

They already nailed the freeform space exploration in the base game-DLC flips the formula and tells you “hey guess what, you’re not the most important thing in this system anymore.” The lack of flying around makes you feel more trapped and small, which ties directly into the atmosphere. It's not worse, it's just telling a different kind of story, and it nails it.
