The gameplay/combat, exploration, some set pieces, zones and a couple of characters in this game are really nice.

Dialogue and the overarching story is atrocious though.

It feels like 20 different companies developed certain parts of it because for example you see insane blood magic turning people into literal puppets or enemies exploding into red mist left and right but you don't behead the enemy during the cutscene for some reason.

I think if it didn't have "Dragon Age" in its name it would be more popular.

You are so wrong. The only thing the game has going for it is that it was released in a polished and bug free state and it runs well. Gameplay is boring, combat becomes tedious 20hrs in, the skill trees are boring. Exploration is almost non existent, you get live service multiplayer maps with a few chests spread here and there. I'll give you the set pieces, some places look nice. And as for characters they're all terrible, the best ones like Emmerich are still not very good compared to other games but the writing being so shit makes them stand out more.

No, they've completely fucked themselves in the ass with the setting.

Probably there eventually be another one.
Hopefully by devs with a different mindset than those of Veilguard's creators.

I very much doubt it. Nobody even asked for this one. But okay we got one anyway and it was kiddy shit, poorly written and in general very poorly received. It also missed its sales target by a mile.

It should be the final nail in the coffin for Bioware. Not sure what those clowns are even working on right now.

I played a mage and I really liked combat, it was action packed, it had nice combos, you could zip around like crazy. It's not classical DA combat for sure, but it's also a nice combat system, it felt rewarding in general. Skill tree up until lvl 40 was nice, after 40 it became a bit meaningless because I already got everything I more or less needed to build the full kit for my mage. Gameplay became increasingly fun for me, especially after lvl 30.

I am not sure what do you expect from exploration? A map full of dots like Ubisoft games? The maps were fine with nice scenery and some nice chests here and there that required some sort of platforming/puzzle. Puzzles were all piss easy though.

I really liked Lucanis and Neve overall, with Emmerich and Davrin coming close. I really liked Lucanis' dynamic with his inner demon and Neve's femme fatale, starting off strong and confident and turning fragile if you choose to save Treviso instead of Minrathous which was nice. Davrin's growing relationship with the gryphon was really nice as well. Emmerich was amazing up until his last mission which basically turned into a disney saturday cartoon at the end.

Rest of the cast were absolute shit with Taash and Harding being the absolute worst characters I'ev ever seen in any game I played.

As I said, the game feels like 20 different groups/companies made it, its all over the place. One scene you see gigantic skeletons, horrible blood magic, people getting destroyed, next scene you don't even see how that retarded half-lich woman dies, she just screams off screen.
