Am reading Revue Starlight Road to El Dorado right now, its kino but non porn so most anons might not be interested. Its a very earnest and sincere story about a bunch of girls putting on a play but they have to really act out the action, its mostly melodrama and slice of life. But its cute.

before this i played Yamizome Liberator and it was kino as fuck. You play the villain against a team of magical girls and you have to defeat them with rape. Tho it was handled in a comedic fashion, not all serious and dramatic like some.

The problem with Kinkoi is the main heroine, Akiyuki who is literally the worst girl from any vn I’ve played. She’s a massive whiny bitch and the entire premise of the MC being too pure for the world around him is ridiculous. But the game does get better after the first couple arcs when things start happening to actually matter and there are plenty of funny moments along the way despite that

It has too much white noise in terms of message delivery. There is so little effort put into explaining things to the reader that I often found myself confused or even offended by certain things being said. In fact most of the "philosophical" messages conveyed were either retarded or completely irrelevant to the plot itself. And if they weren't retarded, they were still very vague in nature and left up to interpretation, which is fine except that those interpretations vary wildly between individuals. The biggest issue however was the amount of pointless content - a lot of the game could have been cut out with almost no loss of value whatsoever since they mostly served to fill time rather than enhance anything else. This includes a lot of useless dialogue during fights and tons upon tons of filler content throughout the common route alone. Overall this was a huge waste of time and effort that could have been used to create an actual worthwhile piece of entertainment.

it has the best ending / true route of any story or piece of media that i've experienced, and i've read/watched a lot across every medium. there's a reason japs rate it as the #1 VN of all time, and it's not because of the stuff in the middle. ever17's true ending actually spawned hundreds of imitators that try to do very similar twists. the company never had a hit as big as ever17 even though their subsequent games were very imitative of it and had similar twist endings. that's how good the ending is

you do need to complete all the good endings to get to it, but some of them are shorter than others. it's very worth it.
