Wii was the first time there was no magic. Every other gen felt like you got your hands on some futuristic technology. The graphics, the sound design, the scope of the games were all lightyears ahead of the previous gen from NES -> SNES -> N64 -> GCN. Then Wii was just GCN with waggle.

Gamecube had so many hits and the portability was actually really nice. The controllers I had as a kid still work to this day and still get used sometimes. Gamecube was the goat you had Sunshine, Windwaker, Animal crossing, harvest moon, Luigi's Mansion, Sonic adv 2, Smash bros Mele etc

I owned a gamecube as a kid not a ps2 but the time playing smashbros, warioware, super monkey ball 2, sonic adv 2, sunshine, pro skater 4 with friends and family was very memorable. I actually feel bad for the younger gen since nothing is split screen anymore or very interesting. Starfox adv was pre furfags so I think it should get a pass.

There was no real reason to develop consoles after the 2000s and practically every console started heavily focusing on backporting PC advancements into consoles by force (lmao 2 analog), before switching completely to generic as shit multiplats.
The GC and Wii had the right ideas for how control schemes on consoles should evolve, but that made them inherently shit if the first and third parties didn't play along and design good games for them.
The Wii U collapsed the same way that the rest of the industry did and by the Switch they also switched fully into being publisher con-artists like the rest of the industry.

The GC controller is pretty good. The button layout is better than the shit diamond layout, dual stage triggers are cool and a second full size analog stick just gets in the way of actually playing games.

The EXT ports were high-speed and worked with the system, not data transfer. Sure, the ones in the first four consoles were underutilized, but they at least existed.
