Exoframe. It's dead though.

I never understood this. You can just design it to not go beyond human joints abilities. I dunno why people make these power armor that can do full 360s at the waist. Just put in physical stops so it can't even complete the motion.

>retcon the power cores that last centuries to like 10-30min or something
>make power cores easy to find

Not sure why they bothered. But does power armor even scale well late into FO4? Stopped playing after doing one of the faction questlines.

>But does power armor even scale well late into FO4?
Only in the meaning it breaks faster, despite having more durability.

So it's just a maintenance hog, more or less?

it's maybe th first lorerape from Bethesda that's actually fun and good in its own way tbf.
Power(er) Armor on the og games and lore isn't supposed to to make you into a one man tank, it's supposed to give you increased strength, mobility and good resistance against small arms fire.
It's not a fucking suit of Astartes armor

Fallout 4 if you like diet iron man stuff
Otherwise Space Hulk Deathwing or that Robocop game

It's one of those things you don't consider until you get to the test phase and your test subject rotates their torso and the armor takes that as "do a full 180 right now".

>Power(er) Armor on the og games and lore isn't supposed to to make you into a one man tank, it's supposed to give you increased strength, mobility and good resistance against small arms fire
it was practically a way to turn a human into a tank it was so strong it forced china into a stalemate and had them on the run
i liked the operation anchorage style of power armor that it was in three parts (helmet + upper + lower) and people would climb into the legs and then have the top half lowered on the bottom half via a crane which would then be sealed by technicians
sure sure the OG games let your character just equip power armor like it was nothing and it was kept in lockers like a personal suit but fuck that
something that bulky would be impossible to manage on your own
it'd be like being an absolute 500 pound fatass only made out of metal instead of fat

it should've been late game but Bethesda wanted the journies to soii pog when they see dogmeat and le caps and le raiders and le supermutants in the first 20 minutes of the game without having any fucking depth

Nope. Bethesda nulore. Og PA couldn't only tank up to 2500 joules. And if you played the original game you could see that it wasn't invincible.
>it was so strong it forced china into a stalemate and had them on the run
Because it gave the average soldier the ability to carry heavy ordnance:
"Its ability to carry heavy ordinance becomes key in various localized conflicts"
It doesn't turn you into a tank. It gives you strength and durability (and later mobility) to carry heavy weaponry straight into the battlefield.
It doesn't replace tanks, it makes infantry better.

I don't mind the idea of being actual power armor and not spess muhreen tier, but I'm not sure why they even bothered with the power core retcon when you can wear a suit almost all the time anyway - and you already have a tedious upgrade system being the maintenance caveat.

>>720527871
Making it part of the vertical slice is one thing, which was kind of gay when there really isn't much else out there that's meant to be tougher than a fucking Deathclaw. But letting the player keep the suit from the encounter is a mistake, could've handwaved it as a malfunction and then maybe hand-place the suits deeper into the storylines or tougher locations. What's the last game that actually had balls to lock a major game feature behind numerous hours of gameplay, the skells in Xenoblade Chronicles X?

More like
>Single part of the device is hit, deflecting a shot
>It remains intact
>Some chinkified part of the exosuit machinery gives way and it becomes a near-useless weight that won't come off

It should've been end tier equipment with just the maintenance to counterbalance, but like the other anon said, Bethesda thinks (not without reason) that it's audience is low attention span retards, so they either gave the player PA in the first 10min or they'd think it wasn't in the game.

Isn't the other case that you aren't wearing superarmor and you got your arm blown off? I'd rather wait for a crane than a medivac.

Fallout 4's power armor system was a shining light of interesting and surprisingly fun gameplay in the pile of shit that is modern Bethesda
I hope whoever made it got a bonus or something
