i hate the souls community, I've recently brought dark souls remastered i was doing okay until i reached the catacombs, desu it wasn't that difficult at first yeah the respawning skeletons were annoying but once I killed the mage helping them it became much easier, after a while i reached pinwheel desu that was pretty easy too i took him down first try even though i was pretty close to dying but i was happy that it wasn't too difficult, anyhow once i killed that boss i entered into the tomb of giants and holy shit this place is ass i can't see shit and fell down to my death first time entering it and going back to is like going through hell again and again, so i did a bit of research and realized there's some light tools you can use i then searched on reddit to see what people felt about the tomb of giants and to my surprise theses people were saying that the level design was great and that it was one of the best areas of the game.

Yeah, its pretty good, distinct levels that arent pure combat gauntlets, but also navigational challenge, whether bolstered by traps, or swamps, or vertical cliffs, or pure darkness, demands the player to engage with and consider the environment to a meaningful degree, making the level more than just a different colour backdrop to fight enemies on a level to level basis.

Combine this with already largely complex designed levels structure wise, and the genius of the bonfire, and Dark Souls is simply the greatest game of all time, despite largely being an action game.

Fromsoft stopped doing this at bloodborne, and ds3.

DS2 is derrided exactly because it committed too hard to distinct gimmicky levels, combined with a bunch of other unbalanced features, and for me personally, the bonfire isnt used particularly well, but I respect its effort and vision and trying to stay true to dark souls, just executed it horribly. Now that Im thinking about it, the game reminds me of silksong so much that its crazy.

Never go to reddit. Just do not ever go to reddit. I know it’s tempting when you need help or something but just don’t. Figure it out yourself. Look up a walkthrough on gamefaqs and use that if you absolutely need
Every time you go to reddit you will be met with a specific brand of condescending pathological contrarianism and it will anger you. Reading those disingenuous pseudointellectual aktually posts is enough to raise a grown man’s blood pressure. Something about the people on that website is demonic. Stay the fuck off reddit. It’s never worth it

There's a light spell you can learn or you can progress another path and get a special helmet that will light the way. You can also just tough it out and find a lamp (fills shield slot) at some point in the darkness.

In terms of the actual level, it's pretty interesting but I wouldn't say it's the best. The enemies are very cheap when you're new to the area, but they're easy to punish.

The annoying part of the game is Anor Londo, the silver knight archers/ Dragonslayer Archers. And Ornstein and Smough (depending on the build you picked it was a bitch of a fight). Even people complain about Blighttown too much, Blighttown is overhated. All of the pain, frustration and sometimes outright not being fun anymore is associated with this one location in the game, Anor Londo and nothing else compares, I certainly got to points I found to be hard, but nothing else stood out to me as being particularly bad, except for maybe Seath The Scaleless I suppose if I'm too stretch the potentially painful part. I think my main memories will always be Taurus Demon, made me suffer many years ago at the start of the game, but it just forced me to play the game properly so it's kind of a necessary boss at the same time. It's more of a proper tutorial than Asylum Demon ever was. But after the brutal tutorial phase then it's just Ornstein and Smough and almost the WHOLE section of Anor Londo.
