I don't see what should be so surprising about the whole Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy or the next mainline Resident Evil being planned also for the Switch 2.
These announcements are in line with the whole diminishing returns and tech curves (in relation to low-TDP devices such as hybrid consoles) as well as natural fits after the goodwill built during the Switch 1 era.

Non open world games that use RE engine are actually very well optimized, I played Remake 4 on my 1050 ti with stable 60 fps on medium graphics

RE engine is super optimized for what it was designed to do.
For example, MH Rise was also RE engine. RE7 or something was successfully ported to switch so switch2 running RE9 is highly possible from the start.
What people have issues with RE engine is that, capcom, for some reason, forcefully use it to make an openworld aka MH Wilds. And the result is what we have seen so far, a shit game for both graphics and performance.
