This, cross-game worldbuilding literally doesn't matter outside of self-contained stories anymore. Remember when they shat on the original timeline by making it so the only reason the goddesses made things exist was to troll this secret fourth godly being, Null, who kept eating everything that tried to exist on its own without the goddesses backing it up? And Echoes of Wisdom, a game in the Downfall Timeline, is the only time Null is ever addressed, leaving us to assume the Future and Child timelines are both canonically fucked over by Null after their respective final games?

Completely bastardized the whole point of the Triforce too, it was always meant to be an ultimate test for the life the goddesses created and serve as a tool of pure neutrality, later expanded on that all was fair game so long as the chosen holders of Power, Wisdom and Courage were all present (hence the flood in Wind Waker and Ganondorf's botched execution in Twilight Princess: Courage wasn't present in the former, Power would've been killed in the latter before Courage and Wisdom were ready for the next iteration of the test).

there is absolutely nothing interesting about the story as anyone who played TOTK already knows how it ends. we're going to play as a group of ragtag glup shittos who are really strong and can definitely almost beat ganondorf but then they don't and they die.

The prospect of expanding the story was more enticing for BOTW. Zelda games infamously are paper thin when it comes to story telling. For some reason we wanted to know more despite that. And in return we got a weird fanfic instead of the canonical story that didn't answer the questions we had and ultimately didn't matter anyways. Nobody cares about the backstory of TOTK. The sages not only didn't have face they didn't even have names. We have no reason to care about their backstory. Even if the gameplay is good, its more of the same and we already played AOC. We never asked for this, if anything people wanted a Hyrule Warriors 2.

The only character I like is Mineru. Do you think anyone cares about the Masked Personality LACKING Sages from the flashbacks? Get real. And Zelda herself is based on the most annoying version of recent times so she's not selling the game. And it really doesn't help that Link himself is not playable. I don't want a construct I want the genuine main character Link.

Long story short, the roster is horrible. And the premise of the story is even worse than the last game which was pretty awful already, seriously everyone no one has to die in Zelda game because there are no consequences! That is bad storytelling.

I had enough of the BoTW Zelda setting with BoTW
That sentiment went further when the first Warriors spin off of it came out and instead of being a fun spinoff celebrating Zelda's history like the original it was a shitfest that chugged hard on the Switch.

Then ToTK came out an Nintendo did the autistic fucking shit they do where its a direct sequel but it can't be TOO direct of a sequel because people might play it first and feel they missed out so it's trying to be it's own things while rejecting what happened in BoTW and having characters who should clearly know Link not know him at all.

Now I'm left just not caring. The flashbacks in ToTK didn't leave me caring about that past. If Nintendo follows through with their promise of not changing the story then we know what happens. If they don't, it's not going to be altered in an interesting way - it's just going to be THEY WON AND THEY ALL LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER :) like the previous Hyrule Warriors.

If they're going to make more Hyrule Warriors, just fucking go back to the first game's formula and add more characters. Capcom Zeldas have a wealth of potential like their incarnations of the Goddesses, Onox, Veran, Vaati, maybe Ezlo. There's a shit ton still not done yet.

BoTW honestly has to be to me the least interesting Zelda setting which is ironic given how much they've tried to flesh it out with plot.

I'm not really into Zelda but I played the first one at least since the series does have some cool designs and concepts. Gameplay was "fine", I played it for a while but it isn't very interesting. Removing the cool designs and concepts to narrow to just BotW/TotK is unappealing because the designs and writing in those games are not good.

because the hyrule warriors games are pretty niche, and people already bought and played the first one. the people who liked totk (less than those who liked botw) and those who are comfortable dropping another $60 on a warriors spinoff (less than those who bought AoC) kinda just doesn't make it that appealing to too many people. i'm 100% getting it because i love every hyrule warriors game, and i'm genuinely interested in the lore of totk, but i'm an outlier lol

I don’t know what the rest of the Zelda community thinks but i was sorely disappointed by the age of calamity game. I expect a Halo reach/FF crisis core esque ending where the game is more of a tragedy setting up BOTW. Instead the game went for time traveling shenanigans and it just downright bland.
