Too bad devs intentionally nerf every non-meta option to the ground because they only want to balance around 10-20 options instead of 500. Then the next season comes, and they nerf the current meta to the ground while overbuffing useless options to make a new meta and keep things different, so players won't get bored and drop the game.

The longer I play a game, the more likely I play some kind of meta, it's impossible to avoid when you get experience and naturally figure out better/faster ways to clear upgrades.
