Everyone jerks off the super shotgun, but barely anyone talks about how it totally overstays its welcome in the roster and invalidates the regular shotgun. Love the new monsters though.

It doesn't invalidate the shotgun tho
The SSG is overkill for certain enemies, the shotgun still kills imps, zombiemen and shotgunners in 1
The shotgun is also better than the SSG past a certain range.
>>720660454 >invalidates the regular shotgun
Not if you use the super shotgun as a quasi-melee weapon. The regular shotgun has better usage at longer distances.
There's also no point in using the super variant against certain low-level enemies, unless you've got a bunch grouped together.

I mean I enjoy the game but it's like they kind of stopped trying to keep any semblance of feeling that you were on earth fighting demons in earth environments.

Because when they actually tried that, it was shit. >Downtown

Because seething about 30-year-old level design is the eternal /v/ pastime, anon. Gotta squeeze that last ounce of discourse from Doom II before we move on to arguing about Brutal Doom for the 942nd time.

The super shotgun slows down the action due to the slower rate of fire, and since it's basically the default weapon it drags down the entire game. It's an interesting change of pace, sure, but it's just not as fun.

The reg shotty had much better range and was more efficient at killing imps and zombies because of it's ammo consumption. I regularly switched between the two depending on what I was trying to kill.
