I don't know how you could suggest this reasonably. Games have not improved at all. Texture, mesh, etc detail has gone up, sure, but the visual cohesion of games is so, so, so much worse. When you talk about how graphics are advanced, we can't just talk about the max settings of games that, now more than ever, nobody plays at. You have to think about the average experience of people playing these games.
4k resolution now a thing, 4k textures, highly detailed models? Who cares. Everyone is using DLSS balanced or performance to hit 60 fps in any modern game, so any detail gained turns to detail lost as they play blurry pieces of visual noise.
The same applies to raytracing, lumen, nanite, all these garbage technological "advancements" being pushed on people. They're so increasingly demanding that your average gamer either finds ways to turn them off completely or turn them so low that they look horrendous. To the average gamer BL2 unironically visually leaps over BL4 just because of how horrendous they have to make BL4 look to make it run similarly. That's hugely embarrassing and should be a death sentence for this industry.
