Dude Sex Thread
Why is this game so overtly complex for the sake of being complex.
I don't mean the story as the conspiracy shit is part of the fun but the mechanics and overall way the game is.
I get it is a classic im sim but I am doing shit like finding stuff for missions randomly before I even have the missions. Or that the whole mechanics system of the game is overly complicated. Inventory, weapons, upgrades, bullet types, hacking.

Maybe I should have just ran from A to B in missions instead of exploring.
Still a good game though.

I gotta say this is the first time I've ever seen somebody complain about this. Exploration of Prague is my favourite part of the game, all the different stuff you can stumble onto.

I love the exploration, its great and the small tight hubs are a much better solution in an im sim than a linear mission structure.
My gripe is just that it is overly complicated in everything it does. I had the same issue in HR. Basically BECAUSE the game does not hold your hand at all, I don't know if i am fucking shit up, ruining further missions, conversations etc. I am finding stuff before the missions request me to find it, just because I am exploring.
Like I found a safe with jensons medical records in it and some photographers, surveillance etc. Wondering WTF, only to later find it is a part of an arching side quest.
It just has a vast amount of complexities in it from speaking with people to the inventory systems. Though I would suppose I prefer that it didn't lock me out of areas so blatantly, until I am able to enter them for a mission.

I am really enjoying the game. I liked HR too and I played OG dude sex 20+ years ago and loved it. I just guess its one of those games that I will appreciate more on my 2nd, 3rd...playthroughs than my 1st.

Atm I am trying to play pure pacificst, sneaky, hacking, no kills, no alarms so it is even more hard as I am adding extra restrictions. I played HR like that too and some anon suggested in a thread I made a few days ago when i was starting it, better to play it like that than run and gun.

>DXMD is complicated
Not a stupid take I expected to see today.

You can easily clear the game without anything more intense than "I sell everything that isn't bullets for my gun, then buy more bullets for my gun, so I can shoot the badguys". You know. If you're really struggling with using a Multi-Tool to hack computers for you.

The game usually accounts for when you find something early. I can't think offhand of any time that it's a problem.
As for mechanics, I guess I would say that you shouldn't feel like you need to use everything. Take whatever equipment and upgrades you think will be most useful or suit your playstyle, and you should be fine.

Never could get into the original Deus Ex, but recently I bought HR and I'm slowly playing through it and I'm enjoying it a lot

I played it when it came out but quickly dropped it

Is this your first DX game or something? I'm not going to insult you like I'm sure many other anons will, but MD is not mechanically complex at all. You do need to somewhat lock in to the type of character you want to play and build your upgrades and gear accordingly, but that's about it. The only way I can see someone having trouble is if they're trying to do absolutely everything or use gear that they didn't spec well to wield

This is some smoothbrain talk.
The game is super simple and if anything could have used some more complexity like individual limb health that impacts gameplay like in the original or shock damage draining your battery.

You don't understand the point. Which is ironic as you call me stupid yet cannot understand sentences.

When you don't understand words, you are to use a dictionary to find their definitions so you can understand what grown ups are speaking about.

You should look up "overly, complicated, and complexities" because you clearly don't understand what these words mean.

The game has vast amounts of unnecesary mechanics that complicate the game just by being a part of the mechanics of the game.
8 (I think) different quick hacks, massive explanations of augs functions from an in lore technical explanation that "overly complicate" what the augs do.
Weapons mods and upgrades being in a UI system that is again just complex for the sake of being complex.
Basically the game is trying to be all high tech but in the end product it makes it feel stupid.

I did too I think.
>slowly playing through it
I also did this and am doing the same with MD.
I am doing it in small multiple daily sessions rather than the usual 8+ hours per session I would play a game I am immersed in. I am not in a rush to complete it of course and am only looking at the DE wiki for info if I am stuck or need info to shorten my exploration. Like I have a tab of praxis I can get.

>>720668321
Not my 1st DE. I played OG and HR. Never IW though.
I am just talking about the entire complexity of the game itself.
I am not lost or finding doing things hard or the conspiracy story going over my head.

If the different choices you're afforded don't actually make a difference and are ultimately just minute changes of flavor to the same solution, I see your point. I think the visual clutter and superfluous flavor text you're describing is more likely a matter of taste though

This pic was taken at 8k AND running 8xmsaa. Needless to say the single digit fps and gargantuan vram usage has not been included.

At some point you just reach dimishing returns, playing on a 2k screen with tripple digit FPS while downsampling looked good enough to me.
