I'm looking for a Switch compatible controller with a high d-pad placement. I looked at some 8bitdo controllers, one of which is nice but pretty expensive and the others insanely small. It doesn't have to be fancy, just big enough with no mushy buttons and laid out so both my thumbs can rest high. Any suggestions?

Use a PS5/PS4 controller with an adapter. The Wingman NS from Brooks or the 8Bitdo Wireless USB Adapter for Switch.

8bitdo pro 3 is great. I just used it to 100% Silksong.

How's the material and button quality? It looks nice. Also I agree on Silksong, I switched to d-pad on my regular pro controller and the game suddenly became much more responsive. Circle of the Moon is obnoxious to play with a stick

In terms of materials, it feels on par with Xbox and Playstation controllers. The buttons are membranes and feel a lot like the Switch Pro Controllers, and despite having the magnetic button swap gimmick feel great. The magnets are nice and strong too, so they shouldn't pop off unless you're someone who throws their controllers when raging. I'm pretty sure the Dpad is membrane as well, but it feels clicky and nice to use. I didn't have an issue with false diagonals in Silksong, however ymmv with them being made in Hong Kong. The triggers are analog with a switch on the back to make them digital, and they feel as good or better than xbox/playstation analog or Switch Pro digital when swapping. Its been great.

Neat. Thanks. They're expensive but if they're that good and versatile I might have to get one
