Gamers seem to be allergic to heavily asymmetrical games like that nowadays, especially if you have to communicate with teammates. Even the extremely dumbed down Blacklist version filtered people.
There have been a few *attempts* though, but they've all ended up abandoned for one reason or another. It seems like most of them tried to do lighting entirely in realtime (pre-RTX) instead of doing the heavy lifting with baked lightmaps and ended up having dogshit performance as a result. I remember seeing that netcode was a big problem for one of them, and they basically had to resort to trial and error to get players to stop glitching through stuff and disconnecting before just giving up.
