I never played the ps4 let alone the ps3, but i have enjoyed the ps quintuple quite a bit. The general impression ive gotten is, the ps3 is like a ps4 with bad performance and graphics basically a potato, while the ps4 is comparable to an entry level pc and the ps5 is something like a high end pc. Youve also got access to every ps4 game, and all the good ps3 games were ported to ps4.

Consoles got overtaken by PC in the 2000s, you could no longer outdo the price to performance ratio of a home PC with some jank math chips and the nature of home consoles meant that you were stuck with budget hardware for 6-8 years that had to perform as good 6 years in as it did at the start.
They managed to temporarily persist due to the investment bubble, but even that deflated by the mid 2000s.
After the PS3 they also started releasing budget x86 APU prebuilts, so basically just corner cut home PCs anyway,

not really, actually not that many ps3 games have been ported because it has a weird architecture (hence all the $600 memes at launch) making development and porting hell unless the game was already made targeting ps4 like the games later in the ps3 cycle (tlou, gow3)

Resistance getting left behind is one of the biggest crimes of the whole PS4 gen. Sony straight up forgot one of their most unique IPs because it doesn’t fit their “prestige cinematic” brand anymore. No glossy cutscene overload like TLoU or Horizon, and too weird for normies who only touch CoD and FIFA. What makes it even worse is that Insomniac’s glow-up with Spider-Man should’ve put a spotlight back on their older stuff, but nope-Ratchet or bust. Whole trilogy deserves a proper remaster at the very least.
