Super Metroid is a legitimately exceptional game, and its flexibility keeps it relevant to this day. Metroid Prime is also a very good game, but it's more rigid and slow, so the appeal is different. If Retro leaned more in to allowing for sequence breaking, it would likely be regarded even better.

Can you imagine a world where making neat total conversions for Metroid Prime was a thing like it is for Super? That'd be amazing!

I would have cared last year since I love Prime and even bought the remaster, but Nintendo is pretty fucking bad lately.
Already sold all my Switch 1s, Switch Lite, and all my cartridge games after learning they were just shitty flash memory that had to be refreshed every year or they'd corrupt.

NTA, but I wouldn't mind seeing another crack at a 3rd person 3D Metroid game.
Other M had a lot of problems not related to the 3rd person perspective, like being designed for a controller with too few buttons and sequence breaks and exploration being boxed in with invisible walls.
Give it a better controller and better map design and you're halfway to a 3rd person Metroid that works.

It'll be fine and/or great. As for the sales, I honestly think it depends on the marketing a lot. They need to choose between pushing the Switch 2 or pushing metroid as a franchise. With a gazillion units of NSW around, it should do pretty well unless they go out of their way to make everybody feel that the NSW1 version is a waste of time and that you should totally buy the NSW2 for it. In which's case, I don't know what'll happen. Metroid has never been a system seller.

In any case, months ago some insider I think said something about having tried MP4 himself at retro and to look forward for it because it was quite more interesting than the trailers let on to think.

After seeing the bike I honestly expect that the game is a lot wilder than it seems. I was worried it would be too safe.

I disagree. Not for metroid at least. I think it'll make it feel a bit like Oot which I don't think is a bad match for the series necessarilly. In any case we've barely seen much of it and I'd like to see how a Metroid game feels with that scale. It's not like Retro has ever made a bad game, if the worst one is MP3 and it's still good.

I'm thinking the bike is going to be the replacement of elevators. So instead of zones being connected by a series of elevators we'll have zones connected by a large field. Whether or not that will feel good to play depends on if it's a completely empty field or if there are things to find and potentially multiple routes that wouldn't have been possible in other prime games barring glitches.
