A protagonist switch is expected for the new scenario, since we've already had enough time with Hajime and new free time events from a different perspective would be nice. Nagito is the most popular choice, but he's too actively intelligent for a protagonist role and dumbing him down would only ruin the character. Chiaki is also a candidate, but would be hard to work with given her origins. Looking to the other students, Mahiru is the most decently balanced candidate for a protagonist role, and people have special interest in her due to her dying early and lacking development in spite of her seeming potential.
