Is Silksong considered one of the hardest in the genre?
I mean I've played my fair share of metroidvania games but I don't really dig deep on them. I did 100% Silksong and while at first I considered it to be hard, I thought it was "tough, but fair" but a little bit toeing the line of being unreasonable.
Don't get me wrong I died so many times against bosses, and platforming. But I never really raged at the game? Except for one area and I'm sure everyone knows what that place is.

I don't know if I it's because I just got used to it, or because a week before playing Silksong, I just finished GoW:R - GoW difficulty and I was raging and begging on that game. Silksong's difficulty was no where near that.

I dont know man, I've beat both and Eigong took me longer too but that was mostly because of her phase 3 timing issue, meanwhile Lost Lace is hard from the start.

Eigong has simpler flowcharts, a smaller possibility space and is just a slower boss. She has 2 situations where you need to wait for the changeup and your approach doesnt change:
- Talisman or Ball Blast: You just jump for either
- Post-talisman combos: Jumping 1-slash, Jumping 2-slash, ground quickdraw. Your approach is also mostly the same for those, they dont punish eachother. And you have a lot of time to decide.

Lost Lace on the other hand has LOTS more variations on just her neutral. Just from standing next to you she can open with:
- 3 hit combo
- Diagonal launch
- Dash tentacles
- Horizontal tentacle nuke
- Parry
And those DEFINITELY counter eachother. Most of them you counter by jumping but the diagonal launch gets you then, and they come out FAST, faster than eigong's. I think you have more capacity to heal on Lace though and can brute force her probably with tools and luck.

Nine Sols has harder bosses, but easier general exploration and platforming (barring the Factory, which is cancer incarnate). The hardest bosses in Silksong, Far Fields Savage Beastfly and Groal, are at most about as difficult as the Fengs or Jiequan.
There's no boss in Silksong remotely comparable to Eigong in difficulty. This is partially because Eigong is a shit boss with garbage hitboxes that may as well have came from some amateurish "Hardcore" mod, but also because Silksong's base mechanics require less mastery.

I agree with you on your Lost Lace comments though. I also countered her counter with double jump every time and also found her phase 1 the hardest to "master". Most of her phase 2 gimmicks were free windows. The hard part about Lace is that you wanna generally stay aerial but theres seriously VERY little time before her diagonal launch nails you, and you probably cant afford the Silk Parry for it because you're typically spending it on the Double Tentacle Dash + Diagonal (that you bait out consistently with positioning). Maybe im just washed on reflex checks im Old.

Finally finished the game after 70 hours
I played mostly blind and only used guides when stuck, which ended up being a lot for the last 20% of the game
The game was good
But they really, REALLY need to do a check on the boss patterns because some of them overlap with basically no way to dodge them, or are just bad in general.
Like Lost Lace boxing you in between two void blobs and then using her dive attack, that is only dodgeable with cross stitch. In that same fight she can also start channeling attacks while hidden in her blobs. Or do her aerial attack end the end of her horisontal dashes with void tendril, which is nigh on impossible to dodge even if you see it coming and punishes you for pogoing. I spammed dash whenever I saw the tell and it did not go off fast enough basically ever which is crazy. You can parry it and I did it once, but fuck that shit man
And she teleports across the arena into you while you are dashing ALL THE FUCKING TIME. It's so bullshit because you get assraped if you are in the corner as usual

Every attack is readable and dodgeable except her second silk net attack which is sometimes unavoidable
She has no contact damage, actually lets you attack her 24/7 instead of being off-screen while spamming ranged attacks. Her moves are fun and can be dodged in different ways and she doesnt have an aids runback

Snail crest? Shit even if you get it late, only useful for clearing out mooks for the journal, it's awful at attacking. The bind also sucks
Architect's crest? Literally just a crutch for poison tool spamming shitters and feels like shit to play
Reapers crest? Literally only good for pogoing, that is why it exists. The dash and charge attack suck and the crest is slow. The extra silk is pointless
Beast crests? Lol, lmao
Hunters crest? The damage is theoretically decent and the pogo isnt bad for all platforming segments but it doesnt give you height when pogoing so good luck using it against the flame father for example. It has a nice attack and no bad bind gimmick
The wanderers crest? A literal meme until you get longclaw because good luck trying to get in reach without taking contact damage. The dps, critting, and parry potential just makes it objectively stronger than other crests once you get longclaw and there is no reason not to use it unless you prefer the architect tool spam.
The witch crest? No yellows slots means exploration sucks since you lose out on beads, shards, movespeed, qol, and the magnetic dice. The moveset is nice but the heal is weird and lowkey bad. You do get 3 blue slots and the moveset is nice so I guess it's good? I'm not going to use the rape crest with no heal though
