Nintendo's CEO once publicly stated that he didn't think it was reasonable to charge players to play online. Now you even have to pay to download levels for 5-year-olds in Mario Maker 2.
Things change, and your inability to understand those changes doesn't mean that the world is static and that corporations always follow the same philosophy forever.
Nintendo is on the path that companies like Apple have chosen. They will try to filter the public with luxury products, build loyalty among this group, and then charge $100 for games. The difference is that they make products for children, and the kids will simply play Roblox on a smartphone instead of begging their parents to buy the new overpriced bing bing wahoo.
The path Nintendo has chosen is terrible, and it will take its toll sooner or later.
