Lasombra aren't really Spanish to any degree. They just got their medieval power based in the Catholic Church. But since the start of the modern era they've transferred that influence and power to financial and political institutions. The older ones just like to larp as Cardinals and Abbesses the same way some older Ventrue like to pretend to be Dukes and what not.

I think it will get middling reviews because it's a mid game, it will have decent sales but nothing special, and ultimately Paradox won't mind because they just want to wash their hands of all this.
Initially it'll get lots of hate because the word of mouth for this game is a complete dumpster fire, but maybe 5-10 years from now it'll be accepted and seen as pretty good. In the end the salt over the "original" vtmb2 we thought we were getting will fade completely and all that'll be left is this game, which is most likely going to be 7 or 8/10.

I think in terms of audience reception, writing is a huge consideration. Dragon Age 4 is perfectly fine mechanically, but the writing and choices are shit.

Here, it needs to land strong writing, strong sense of choice, and the gameplay has to be passably good at worst. It can't be frustrating. It has to avoid Vampyr syndrome where it starts out really strong but begins falling apart immediately after the opening.

You're messing a tremendous amount of backstory from Los Angeles by Night. Nines, Jack, and Abrams are all Anarchs, but they have no consolidated power structure or hierarchy to deal with a mass invasion like what the Kuei-Jin started in 1998. By 2004, the Anarchs were in total disarray. The reason the Camarilla shows up is because of how badly the Anarchs fucked up the Kuei-jin situation, which is why LaCroix is there in the first place. The Camarilla fully expected him to be killed to give cassus belli to crash down on both the Anarchs and Kuei-jin, which is why Gary and Strauss remain largely distant from LaCroix while monitoring the situation unfolding in front of them. It's no coincidence the Nosferatu and Tremere primogens are the only ones featured in VTMB.

If you mean Influence, Resources, etc, Ventrue are pretty clearly on top, they rule the Camarilla which is the largest Vampire Polity and have the most extensive influence over the world's major powers and numerous avenues of financial assets. During the Cold War the Brujah had the most influence in the Soviet Union but that collapsed and they all got fucked by Baba Yaga.

Brujah are the strongest at chargen as they have 2/3 of the combat disciplines but are much more likely to frenzy and lose control. Gangrel have access to Aggravated damage at chargen if you so desire and if they don’t want to fight you you don’t get to fight them because they’ll either turn into a bird and fly away or just sink into the ground until you fuck off. Technically Tremere can also get Ahh really early but you are uber glass cannon as a Tremere in most cases, even elders can be on the frail side by vampire standards, and if you get caught flat footed you’re going to die, but they’re the second most organized vampire subtraction behind the Ventrue and make a lotta magical bullshit to protect themselves or kill yoi. Ventrue are masters of social manipulation and come with free Fortitude (super damage soak) so they can be the hardest to kill by simply hiding behind 7000 pawns. Giovanni are like that but with 7000 zombies and ghosts. Toreador aren’t combat slouches and are the most likely to have Allies who actually like them. Assamites are a clan of super assassins that mostly rely on their network and surprise to function, they can kill almost anyone but try to pick and choose their battles cause you’ll get folded in a fair fight. Malkavians do psychological warfare that you won’t even realize you’re fighting as you get progressively more suicidal but die if they are killed. Nosferatu also have Agg damage and can super sneak for the classic undodgeable sneak attack to one shot someone but die if they are killed. Other Clans are a bit hit or miss. Tzimiscie aren’t necessarily scary on their own but like to make monstrosities, and they can turn themselves into a powerful monster if they so desire, or they could just be a powerful sorcerer too. Lasombra are like Ventrue except they use shadow tentacles.

In terms of Clans it’s Ventrue > Tremere > Lasombra > Tzimiscie > Giovanni > Nosferatu > Toreador > the rest

Honestly I hoarded some points to use as needed. But it helped to specialize in terms of a specific type of combat coupled with whatever blend of persuasion and infiltration skills you were interested in.

Spend your points on attributes and abilities that boost whichever feats you're finding yourself relying on the most. The same with a discipline. You can see what affects which feat by hovering over them on the right side of the character sheet.

More edgy Ventrue. They have cool shadow magic. In the Middle-Ages when Ventrue were controlling kings and prices, they controlled the other authority, the Church. They still maintain some of those connections. Alongside Tzimisce they were one of the main clans of the Sabbat. They're also very ruthless, don't tolerate failure and always aim to be the best. In earlier editions they cast no reflections and didn't appear on cameras or photos. In V5 they're always distorted on photos or in mirrors, also electronics doesn't work with them. Oh, and they used to control the Mediterranean Sea. If you know about the Bronze Age Collapse and the Sea People, that was them. Their kinda Lovecraftian with their connection to the sea. Also what differentiate them from Ventrue, Lasombra are more of a social climbers. While Ventrue are good at keeping power, Lasombra are good at gaining power. It's kinda reflected in their disciplines, Ventrue have Fortitude, Lasombra have Potence.

Masquerade violations and the punishments are more nuanced and based on situation. If you're some unaffiliated dickhead doing party tricks for cash the Camarilla will dissappear you. If you happened to get seen doing vampire stuff while doing work for a Prince they'll probably cover for you.

I don't think it's necessarily bad. I just feel like some of the lines come off as very cheesy. Which wouldn't be a problem if they wanted to lean into it, but comes across poorly. Because it's obvious from the rest of the game's tone that they're going for a very serious neo-noir-esque vampire story.
