So, I checked my library and found out that I somehow own all previous Borderlands games, probably from PS+ or something since I don't remember buying any of them.

Am I crazy or is the weapon variety absolute ass? For a game that advertises itself as a gun centric grinding game it sure doesn't feel exciting in the slightest to get new guns. I had seen every Major version of a gun by like lvl 10 and all the magazines/reloads by level 30. Its all the same shit. Even looking up BL3 all reload animations on youtube to refresh my memory theres like 3x the variety

I completely broke the game somehow yesterday. Was able to get a glitch where no enemies spawn in the open world anywhere. Could still make them spawn for events when needed but just no random enemies or patrols.

If I could recreate this reliably it would completely change everything for speedrunning.

I wanted to like amon but he's one of the worst 'melee characters' in borderlands history. I don't think I've been let down by a class's design more, having expectations set by his appearance and instead just getting Brick 2.0. Those cool axes? Nah, they're just a convoluted torgue sticky where you hold F to detonate instead of reloading. Your melee attack? A limp noodle that hits slower than the other VH's. Rocket punch? Cumbersome and pathetic damage on a long cooldown. Molten slam? lol. Survivability? Tied almost entirely to shields/overshield, which gets eaten almost instantly even on the easy mode difficulty.

Rafa is the better melee character, and that's saying something since Rafa melee ain't very good either. The biggest, brawniest chad thundercock character is, ironically, the one that will give the least sense of power. You'll be sitting far back behind a sniper and ordnance before level 30, and it doesn't get better.

You can do Amon melee, but you need that thing were you're converting gun damage to melee damage, which means you spend 90% of the time shooting, then hit like a couple times. Which is fucking shit because by the time you've done this gay combo bullshit, everything is dead if you're playing co-op.

3's writing is so obnoxious one of the first "mods" was deleting the audio files from the dialogue so you didn't have to listen to the cringe.
i really liked 3's gameplay and a lot of the environments but i can't stand anything else - the story, the characters - its a masterclass in awful writing. i probably won't get BL4 until its on sale, and maybe not even then, because 3 was so awful it killed my interest in the franchise

If you give him a good double barrel Jakobs then you can just shoot-punch-shoot.
Break action ones work the best for this but pumps are okay too if you have fast reload speed or some way to put ammo into the gun without reloading.
Combine this with his increased damage while close skill and the one that restores action skill time on close kill and you just rocket punch up to enemies and hit them in the face with a shotgun blast if they survive that or the firestorm surrounding you.
Amon's biggest problem is that almost half the enemies you fight are synths and fire is just bad on them

No, not really. The game is still really buggy in a lot of areas, the UI is amazingly a downgrade from the previous titles, and quite frankly I didn't really like playing Far Cry: Borderlands edition. Likewise I don't like license system because it waters down every weapon brand to the point where getting a vladof weapon is no different from getting a Tediore with a vladof license. They both will have the underbarrel attachment and whatever primary traits don't matter as much either. Yet I still kept finding Ripper branded everything and Ripper fucking sucks, because the Bandit brands always fucking suck.

Yes I fucking can, and I fucking did. BL4 has better movement, but then proceeds to do very little with it outside of platforming because you don't get much power for dodging in combat and the double jump can put you danger just as much as it can take you out of it. Same for the hover which also largely gets used for platforming, because hovering mid combat just leaves you wide open. They didn't even solve the VFX vomit of 3 in this game, it becomes a problem past lvl 30 where your action skill, your guns, the enemies guns and actions can turn the screen into an unreadable mess.

My friends and I prepurchased the most expensive edition as a birthday gift for a friend, as he didn't know what he wanted and he's a big borderlands fan, although even he disliked borderlands 3. He said it's a barebones test for a destiny style MMO, which will probably be the next borderlands according to his thoughts. The zones are generic, there are like 5 types of enemies and despite the advertisement there are a total of 10 guns just with different modifiers. They're still just as powerful if not more now that they have virtually infinite ammo and dedicated stats to scale. Main reasoning they changed it is similar to the "potion problem" where most people were hoarding grenade and launcher ammo thinking they'll save it for a hard encounter only to never use them. D2 has some of the best FPS feel ever created, and very premium, high production content.
BL4 can't complete on the quality of content. Enemies mostly just stand around to be slaughtered and even though they have different archetypes and different special moves, they are so sluggish they hardly ever act. In D2 you can basically feel the presence of every single enemy on screen because they have very strong identities and ways of behaving, moving, acting.
However they have massively improved the overall FPS feel, I personally think they've gotten pretty close to the heights of D2, with the movement, the ordinance, special fire modes/attachments, grapple, and abilities. BL always felt a bit like a stiff, almost "fake FPS" but they gotten it right here. Obviously not as much depth or feedback in overall gunfeel though.

However a lot of those positives in D2's case are fucking irrelevant now anyway. They don't make content, or you can't access it, and they are the greediest fuckers alive. No one could even recommend you to get into D2 in [Current Year] or even for several years now. BL4 as a base product without any DLC or anything yet, is a pretty damn generous package, there is a shit load to the game, and they won't be removing or restricting it like D2. You can entirely ignore the MMO-lite aspects and just A Blast™ with the campaign, or embrace it, digging into co-op, the endgame, and eventual expansions. Whilst in D2 the MMO-lite treadmill is savagely enforced and you better open your wallet every 4 months to even have a game to play.

That and you can get a rapid fire rocket launcher which erases the whole ammo pool even with an SDU or two under two seconds barring reloads so if you're not specced into handling that you would be scared of ever trying again

You're mostly correct but don't act like the vast majority of enemies in D2 don't also function basically like turrets. Other than Wizards which actively try to use cover, I don't think any of the enemies have particularly good AI, there's only sparse moments where it is somewhat convincing.
BL4 enemies do need to be more aggressive though. I'd also like for the quantity to be increased but it would seem the game is stretching itself thin for optimization, so who the fuck knows what would happen if the enemy count doubled.
