We need more literal geniuses like Johnathan Blow, Hideo Kojima, and David Cage

kojima makes goated games. david cage has never made a boring game. blow is making his own programming language and that is not something anyone can do. so unironically yes youre right

You don't even need a budget to make something like Braid

>Braid
You're right that it's never too late. You might make a good game some day Jonathan.

People will laugh at this bait but David Cage made games people talk about. Cringe and all. Successful enough to make more and even rope in “real” actors and actresses.
Clancy Brown as the android hater in the buddy cop part of Detroit is legitimately good.

Nobody remembers anything about Braid or The Witness besides their really good art design and their laughably pretentious pseud writing and Jonathon Blow was only responsible for one of those things.

no denying that, but it's more about how and why anybody actually makes games
blowjoe just wants to do autistic programming things, videogames are merely a pretense to implement them
but he is no carmack (granted, no one is) and also not actually interested in *games*, so without the implicit threat of starvation he is also not interested in *releasing* anything at all
not much to talk really

Only The Witness was good and his Sokoban game will be boring and flop

Peter Molyneux might actually have the highest batting average of any videogame auteur.
Between 1989 and 2008 he did literally nothing but knock out 5/5 gold.

Makes you wonder if he was always spreading tall tales about his games, but because there was no easily accessible internet or social media at the time it wasn't as well known as it is nowadays what a compulsive liar he is or the ego and hubris got to him.
Or maybe he worked with very talented people who were able to make his dreams come true.
